VCT Heavy Duty Fiberglass Welding Blanket and Cover with Brass Grommets Size 4 FT. x 6 FT.

I don’t use this blanket for its intended use, but it does so much more. My grill loses an incredible amount of heat when it’s cool outside, and the welders blanket keeps that heat in like nothing else I have tried. The outside layer stays cool to the touch so I don’t burn myself if I touch the cover. The price is perfect for the intended use.

Upon original unpacking, this appeared to be a nice heavy duty welding blanket: Woven tightly, seams doubled over, grommets appeared to be mounted securely. Given all that, it seemed to be priced reasonably, and I gave it four stars.However, after one use as a welding blanket, it appears my initial assessment was very wrong: Although the fiberglass fabric is certainly thick and fireproof, it does not hold up to welding spatter at all (see photos). The spatter melts right thru the top layer of the fiberglass fabric and delaminates the fibers. A few spatters even melted thru both layers. Additionally, the fabric pulled out of one of the grommets while shaking it out after use. Can also see signs of fabric shredding elsewhere along the seams. And this was all after a single use: A few minutes of light duty flux-core home repair welding, with normal and typical spatter from that process, nothing "industrial".For use as a BBQ or smoker blanket, it may be just fine, if you treat it gingerly to avoid pulling the fabric out of the grommets. But it is not a "heavy duty" product at all, and I would definitely not recommend it for welding use. Changing my rating to 2 stars and returning it. Have to spend more $$ and go with high-temp felt or carbon fiber blanket.

I have a Traeger pellet grill and use this to keep the temperature consistent.It beats paying a $100+ for the one that wraps around the grill when this one covers it well and works great.Yesterday it was a windy 35 degrees in Northeast PA and the grill stayed at 400 with a hitch.

Works for covering my pellet grill while cooking. I folded it to fit over the top and sides of the grill then used an old painters drop cloth over that as a blanket to keep the temperature steady...worked great. Much cheaper than these manufactured heat blankets by the grill companies.

Used as a blanket for my smoker. Works great to hold on heat. Did not melt!

I can’t weld, but I love to smoke meats! I bought this on a recommended suggestion for maintaining temps during winter smokes. I just drape this over the smoker and it cuts back the wind and cold impact on my smoker. Doesn’t burn and has that wonderful smoked meat fragrance as soon as I pull it out of the bag for the next smoke.
