I do a lot of obstacle races called spartan races and at some points of the races you might come across some mud, and no shoe is better to attack running through mud or any trail terrain than spikes. If you put in long cross country spikes they dig into the ground or mud and make it nearly impossible for you to slip.

I got these for my senior year of track and I couldn't be more pleased. I ran the 110 and 300 hurdles with them, the 400, and also the 800 (I didn't plan on running the 800 senior year but these spikes worked great).
