Apache at War - Read It!!!
An exhilarating read from a truly remarkable individual, Steve leaves nothing out in his frank and honest book which encompasses his early career, what it takes to become an Army Pilot through to operating the Apache in one of the most demanding environments on the planet to then taking the reader through some trying times leaving the military to where he is now. I commend this book to anyone who has an interest in the military but above all to anyone who wants to understand what it takes to learn, train and fight the Apache. The standout story for me was the rescue of 4 British Soldiers on the ground, I'll stop there without spoiling it for others but how Steve has managed to convey this story to the reader leaves you nothing more than on edge with your heart in your mouth, fantastic writing. Of course it's not just those that do the fighting that suffer, Steve ensures the reader understands the family sacrifice when one deploys on something dangerous such as ops in Afghan, he clearly is lovingly supported by his family, his daughters and Tracey his wife, which is good to see his acknowledgment of the family frontline as much as the deployments. A truly excellent read that will leave you wanting to know more about the Apache and the truly remarkable individuals in the British Army who fly, maintain and support this incredible force multiplier. Well done Steve and thank you for your service!

"An Unputdownable Journey: A Riveting Tale of Courage and Determination"
As someone who rarely picks up a book, I bought this one a week ago, and I’ve been completely enthralled ever since. From the moment I started reading, I found myself unable to put it down. Even while walking my dog, I catch myself thinking about the story and eagerly wondering what Steve is up to next. The detailed account of his journey to becoming an Army pilot, from the rigorous training to the intense tours of duty, is absolutely riveting. Every chapter pulls you deeper into his world, making you feel as if you are right there with him, experiencing every challenge and triumph.Steve’s determination and resilience are truly inspiring, and the way he navigates the ups and downs of his career is portrayed with such authenticity that it keeps you hooked from start to finish. Hats off to you, Steve—this book is utterly captivating. The storytelling is so vivid and engaging that it feels like watching a movie unfold in your mind. I can’t wait to read more and sincerely hope there’s another book on the way! This is a must-read for anyone looking for an engrossing and inspiring story.

Apache at War by Steve Jones
From the start this book grips the reader to sit up and pay attention. And that remains throughout the book.Having served with Steve in the Army Air Corps I see immediately the effort that he has put into the writing of the book is exactly the same effort he has put into his army career and becoming a top army aviator, mentor, and instructor in the Apache. The book tells Steve's story from a picked on army brat to top predator in the skies above Afghanistan.Including his time in Germany, Northern Ireland, Belize, Iraq, Belize and all points across the globe honeing his skills in the air and the bars of of the world and teaching Capt. Harry Wales all that is required to fly and survive in a hostile environment in the Ugly Beast.I would recommend this book to anyone who has a liking for military books as well as a good life story.Congratulations Steve, on all you've achieved and overcome.

A Great Read for any aviation enthusiast
The author keeps the pace moving, to which I found it hard to put this down. I hadn't sat and read a book for a while, but a family holiday and something to read on an evening. I finished it before we returned home.Having "virtually flown" the Apache in Digital Combat Simulator (DCS), i found this even more enthralling knowing some of what the author was referring to.For any other users of DCS and the apache. Read this!
