terrible.
Don't even touch this order. It's basically coloured water. I read someone put 3coats on, I tried 4 and still no cover results. I tried ronseal garden paint which is £20 for 2 and a half litres which is absolutely brilliant, looks great and covered my old orange colour with one coat. A bit more expensive but without the frustration and a great job. You've been warned.

I'm pleased with it, would recommend.
I wasn't sure about this as the reviews aren't good, here and at B&Q. I was really pleased with the colour 'willow'. I painted my shed (3years old), so a little weathered. The picture shows 2 coats. I then started on the back fence, which is rough sawn, and the picture shows one coat. The consistency is like water, so it's pretty messy, be warned if you're working near a patio ect. It was touch dry really quickly and I was able to repaint later on the same day. I will buy more to do the rest of the fencing I think. The colour matches my water butt great, and helps it all to blend in. It went on much easier on the fence, the shed was smooth wood and it seemed to not take in places, but not to any big inconvenience. For the price. I'm really happy, I feel it's improved the look and feel of my small garden. I will buy again, and my neighbour will also be buying as she likes the look too.

Your Choice
This product is pretty useless,it's like a sentence to hard labour.Do you paint whole fence 4 times , or do you paint it section at a time 4 times either way that's the only way to get the colour you want.Reading between the lines that's what it says on the can.I spent 2 days and 4 coats to get the colour to show evenly on a 3 metre section and there is plenty left to paint.Other Ronseal products are good , this one does repel the elements , but the time it takes .I would paint a shed or a little fence with it , but not your normal size fence. Also once you start you are committed other paints do not like being applied over this product because of the surface finish it produces.I used sage colour and what I've done looks but the effort , plus it your standing on your garden you compact your soil , plus 4 times the risk of accidentally treading on a plant.Use next to your sandstone patio take a bucket of water and yard broom , I soaked the area i worked on and brushed the water and splashes away at the end .I cannot see any manufacturers product similar being any different , I used a cuprinol product and had to lightly sand between costs to get the costs to adhere properly.I would not use again because although the fence may last the posts in the ground will probably rot.

Shake it/Stir it/Slap it on!2 coats on larch lap is plenty.
I read a lot of negative reviews on this stain but I found it very good.I applied it to a 6/7yr old fence and with having no protection left the wood is what I call thirsty!Give this product a real good shake then a good stir prior to 1st coat and it does thicken up well and not as watery as some say.First coat I'd advise to slap it on,2nd coat goes on really well and covered really good, keep stirring though every 30mins to keep it thicker! It is a bit blue rather than what I'd call sage and now my neighbours think I'm a Man City supporter😂garden looks great now though and makes it feel bigger👍

Not pleased
I have just used this paint on my shed, it was like blue water, i have put on 5 coats on , and looks nothing like cornflower colour. Mayby ten coats I might see the colour. Very disappointed.Amazon you need to sort this out .

Easy to apply and not messy to use.
I have just read a review of this product which said it was useless because after putting on several coats it still didn't 'cover' the wood. Basically this a bit more like a stain, not a thick paint - which is what I like about it. When you first apply it, it appears to cover the wood, but then it seems to soak in a bit and the grain of the wood reappears - which I really like. I have put 2 coats on my summer house. I think you wouldn't get away with just one coat.I found it easy to apply (I was using a brush). It is quite thick so it doesn't run down the brush handle. The brushes (and my hand) washed easily with cold water.I chose sage green. It is a very pale bluey green - maybe more like beach hut colour than summerhouse. It does darken quite a lot as it dries. (In the tin it look pale grey/blue).

Badly packaged/ handled, & very thin on application
I didn't particularly want a solid deep black for this particular project, so the grey tone suited me ok, but it looks quite watery and streaky. Will need a couple more coats. 'Black Oak' would be an exaggeration. I wouldn't buy it again, cheap price isa false economy. My house and sheds are black timber, and we've used Cuprinol, Bird and other brands previously, much darker and more substantial. However, more annoying was that when it arrived the lid (although taped down substantially) had split away from the rim: it was in a sealed plastic bag which I had to stand in a plastic tray to remove because there was a substantial amount of the paint in the bag!I was able to use that, so no great loss, but what a mess! And interestingly, no request on this order for delivery feedback! Maybe they knew...

Good stuff but be realistic about claims on tin!
I have a big garden project on going at moment involving a vertical sleeper wall, which I think counts as ‘sawn timber’. I have stained the sleepers with ‘dark oak’ . I have deducted 2 stars because 1. No matter what it says on the tin...do not use if it has been raining or it is forecast in next 24 hours! ( I took 4 coats as a couple washed away) 2. Do not expect it to last 5 years...I did my shed 3 yrs ago after scrubbing with anti bacterial/mould stuff and it still needs an annual make over. Apart from that....the colours are excellent, it is easy to apply, the tins were amazingly well priced and arrived very quickly!
