Wow, I stumbled on this book from another author mentioning it. I love this book so much. It was so thoughtful, so caring, so much empathy. I love the way the author went back and forth back in time to the present. I love the way she drew her daughter, Ann threw a book and how her stepdaughter made it happen. The love story is phenomenal, sexy sensual. The friendships are those that you wish for. A second beginning loved it, I will be searching this author for more books. I really enjoyed it. Rest in peace, Twyla Turner!

Before I write reviews, I always read the less than 5 star reviews, especially the 1 & 2 star ones and I must say that if you are no older than your mid 30s(and/or have not been in "grown-up" relationship) then you probably will not like or understand this book. This book should not have anything less than 4 stars as far as I am concerned. It's not just grown but it's deep and unwavering. Not many romance novels (IR or not) get this deep & definitely don't have the female lead be well over 40. Was SO HAPPY with this aspect of the book but anywho....😊 As far as I am concerned, it had me from beginning to end...Did not want to stop reading it!!! The fact that Etienne was unwavering and patient with Ryn was refreshing. It was about her always feeling loved and cherished even when they went their separate ways. Some did not like her finding Etienne someone else to love thinking she was being all selfless, possibly weak, like she was when she was married. In some aspects she was being self sacrificing with one important difference she was in control of the breakup this time. She had time to "prepare" for what was to come though it didn't make it any less hard. Some thought Etienne cheated on her but I don't think he did because they broke up and had her blessing all the while taking her feelings into account. He eventually knew it was the greatest gift that she gave him. I read someone saying that they could have adopted or get a surrogate(nothing against those things) but I think it would have taken away from the love & sacrifice theme of the book. Bottom line this book was about enduring, grown up love not some of the "insta" love stories heard or read about these days. Lastly, the sex was sensual, intimate, expressive, and ever evolving which made it more amazing. Again, rarely do romance books show characters when they are old & gray. This book was a breath of fresh air!!!😊😊😊

Let me begin by saying that this book is nothing like I was expecting it to be. There was much that was stellar about it...the hot Frenchman, the older woman, the semi-frame tale structure, the very real issues that lent tension and pathos and eroticism to the telling. I can't tell you how drawn in I was by the story from the beginning. Kari needed to be slapped, but thank God her mother loved her enough to restrain herself. Thank God her stepsister was adult enough to reach past her defenses and bring her to her senses. Taryn is so believable to me, so much like me, that there was no way I was NOT going to like this tale. I'm much older than she is at the beginning of the story, but boy, do I hear her. Loud and clear! And Etienne...oh my, what a wonderful, gorgeous, sexy character he turned out to be! Twyla Turner made me wish I had an Etienne in my life. Their mutual heartbreak left me in tears. I cried and cried...and then cried some more. The depth of emotion and level of maturity that led Taryn to sacrifice her heart for love were more than I could bear. I confess to skimming over that part of the story (sorry, you'll have to read it to see what I'm talking about...no spoilers!). I couldn't bear to read it. Maybe in the re-read, because I know how it will end...maybe I'll read it more thoroughly then. In any event, you won't want to miss this wonderfully dramatic and insightful May/December love story. Kudos for a job well done, Ms. Turner! I'll be back for more...and if you could, Kari's story might be nice to read as well. I kept wondering if we would get to see it. And I find I DO want to know more than the little hint you provide at the end.

A connection so strong is very hard to find the in real world. I literally couldn't put this one down, reading until 4:30am to finish the book. Please keep writing. On my what a read, had me laughing and crying with emotion. Soul deep storytelling with full believable characters, this book reached deep and touches you in the nicest way. Covers you will love, joy and happiness. I recommend.
