This is awesome. Can't wait for the rest
This story is great and I'm very involved. Read it as soon as it came and am now re-reading for a bit of a Tom Taylor fix. Will there only be 2 more?

Through me the way to the city of woe.
If you've been reading this series (and the reviews for it) for the past seven volumes, there's little left to say about the Unwritten. Mike Carey's series offers a very inside look at how stories work, loaded with wit and wonder. After the events of the last volume, Tom is prepping for a journey back into story, this time into myths having to do with the undead. That's right, it's off to the underworld for our hero, and what happens will surprise you. Meanwhile, Ritchy and Didge deal with a zombie apocalypse in Australia. No, really. While much of this volume involves subjects the Unwritten has gone through before, it's the execution that makes this volume so entertaining. This does take place in the land of the dead after all, and this series has racked up quite the body count.Read on, my fellow comic fans.

Not for the uninitiated
Another thought provoking set of tales in the Unwritten saga, but certainly not for new readers. This book is the penultimate step towards the Fable cross over and the first half of Tom(my) Taylor's story. Therefore a working knowledge of what has come before is a must.

and that's something that great writers like Peter Carey can make us look forward ...
Unwritten is not simply inventive, it is tremendous work in constant reinvention. It is not breaking entirely new ground, but that only serves to reinforce the larger narrative arc about the centrality of stories to human development and culture. Everything that is old will be new again, and that's something that great writers like Peter Carey can make us look forward to. Terrific stuff, and loads of fun besides.
