Penguin Science Fiction Postcard Box

Not bad, but about 20 covers should be "sexed up."
Penguin "cheated" as 6 cards are not of much interest, they are reproductions of 30s/40s covers that basically have a picture of The Penguin and the story title on them. Why have them? Same with the cover for Fred Hoyle's "The Black Cloud" and the Collection "The Reefs of Space" where money was not found behind the sofa to commission an artist. "1984" and "Brave New World" and a lot of Wyndham & Bradbury has been duly included, even though the covers are not necessarily of interest. Listen, this is for Sci-Fi buffs, there is no need to signal that this, of course, includes SERIOUS literature. We want lurid covers!! We want more stuff 70s/80s/90s. Maybe the set should have been restricted to that period. Ok, I will use this set for show & tell in the canteen.

All those creepy Aldridge illustrations and more.
Fabulous Penguin! If you love your row of orange-spined, Penguins or your blue-spined Pelicans, then you'll 'get' this selection.Penguin paperbacks are synonymous with intelligent design. In the 60's and 70's, the great and ghastly vogue for science-fiction writing allowed Penguin to design some distinctive covers. Those creepy Aldridge illustrations set against a plain black cover, have long disturbed the imagination. It is good to know that others appreciate these books and are inspired to read them.I'm very pleased with this 'box of delights'.

Some great book titles!
Bought for my partner who loves sci-fi. He was thrilled and has made a great collage of some and framed them. They look great! He was slightly disappointed there weren’t more P.K.Dick novels in there however, esp considering how popular he is.

useless but fun
A box of interesting sci fi book covers. Lot of variety, and some of them prompted me to order the books themselves. Not sure what to do with these cards though. They just sit on the shelf.

Really effective look at a good price.
My son mounts these postcards on canvas frames to hang on the wall. Paint background colour, PVA glue on postcards, place in position. Really effective look at a good price.
