This thing is great. I think of all the times I spent fighting with coals, pouring lighter fluid on them, stuffing in newspaper wherever I could, etc. It's frustrating to think of all the time I wasted. I grill sometimes every night. With this thing, I heat up about 5 spots around the bottom of my Kamado Joe (until the coals light), stir a bit, then get a few more spots. That's about it. Heating up the coals (vs just trying to light them when cold) is what lets them stay going after you close the lid. This thing is tough AF, too. I once left it in a container that turned out NOT to be waterproof. I went to start up the grill with guests less than an hour away, and found the lighter, submerged in the cooler I had stored it in. I took it in the garage, tore it apart, shot it with compressed air to dry it out, and put it back together. It worked great. I bought a 2nd to have as a spare, in case this one craps out eventually.

This device is really good and worth the money. It starts the fire quickly and is easy to use. Very happy with this purchase.

I was skeptical about buying an "off brand" starter but this thing flat works. I've used it for 4 months to start charcoal, pellets, charcoal chimneys, and burn barrels and it never disappoints. Within 30 seconds whatever you're burning heats up and catches. I've never used the Looft but compared to the videos I've seen, the Skyflame does it just as well and for a lot less money. My recommendation is to go e this one a try. You can spend more money later of you think you need to but I don't think you will.

Unfortunately I didn’t try it until past the return window. The first time I used it the heating element went on, but the fan didn’t work. I kept trying, and after a minute or so the fan kicked on at that point it worked like a charm.Just went to use it for the second time today, the fans blowing, but the heating element is dead.What a piece of junk.

Easy to use. Works as advertised

Product works well and lights the charcoal very fast.Only drawback is that you have to keep your finger on the trigger for it to work.My previous firestarter had a switch, which was more convenient.

You have to hold the button down to heat, but it lights wood chips really fast. I have not used it on charcoal. Don't grudge the safety feature, this thing really puts out the heat and it too dangerous to leave unattended. Perfect for my cold smoker though. Love it!
