I have used these to protect plastic waste pipes that are very close to the copper water pipes. They are superb. Flexible enough to squeeze into corners too. Always make sure they are clean before use.

These work surprisingly well for the money. Used for a couple of brazing jobs so far and no major signs of wear. They'll tolerate direct heat from a MAPP gas torch for a short while. You could cut these in half and they'd still be as large as the regular cheapie soldering mats that you get from B&Q, so at this price they're practically disposable!

Used this product when heating aluminium up with mapp gas burner to fit bearings. It worked perfectly saving me burning my work bench.

I couldn’t be happier with my decision to purchase this Matace 2 Pack 12x14 Inch Fireproof Welding Blanket. My primarily use was for making oil lamp wicks with pint and quart jars. The 5mm thickness is just right for small square wicks and for rolling them into slightly larger round wicks. The fabric does an excellent job of absorbing and wicking the lamp oil which is ideal for lamps. Since the pack included two blankets, I put the second one to good use in the kitchen. I fashioned it into a pot holder which has turned out to be superior to any store bought ones I have ever used. I can now easily remove a 500°F cast iron pan from the oven and I don’t even feel the heat on my hand. It is an impressive level of protection! Overall I believe the Matace 2 Pack 12x14 Inch Fireproof Welding Blanket offers excellent value for the price. It’s versatile, durable, and performs beyond expectations and highly recommend!

Flame guard I purchased this protective gear specifically for pipe soldering, and it has exceeded my expectations. The exterior is constructed from a thick, durable material that provides a reliable barrier against high temperatures, while the soft inner lining offers the unexpected benefit of keeping me significantly cooler during use. I integrated it into my work clothing to create a customized shield against sparks and intense heat. Overall, I am very satisfied with the product and would give it a 9 out of 10. My only minor issue is the coverage; I plan to order a larger or longer size for my legs to ensure my pants are completely shielded from potential heat damage.

I wouldn't call this a blanket. It's more of a piece of cloth, craft paper size. I use it when I'm welding something and want to protect everything around the weld site from the heat and occasional spatter. It also works well as a wick for an alcohol lamp!
