... Data Book Cover System has been one of the best purchases I've made
The Field Data Book Cover System has been one of the best purchases I've made when it comes to job stuff...well worth the money! It's an outstanding, high quality product that keeps you organized and stands up to abuse. This is the 4th one I've ordered, not because the product failed and needed to be replaced; I hand them out as promotion gifts to my fiends and colleagues. People regularly ask me where I got it!Quality:This product is very well constructed. The seems are all double stitched which adds to its durability. After several months of near-daily use, I haven't had any frayed edges, rips or tears and the velcro hasn't warn from continual fastening/unfastening.Functionality and Design:The good: There are a lot pockets! The front cover has a compartment for pens and pencils, etc.. There's also a small zippered compartment on the flap of the pens/pencils pocket. When you open the book up, the left side has large pocket where you can add a legal pad (or you can use it as storage). There's a large velcro-fastened pocket as well that can be used to insert a regular book-style notebook like the standard issue green hardcover ones. The right side is almost a mirror image of the left side, except the window pocket is a little larger. The inside has a lot of velcro real-estate for customizing! On the back of the book there is a large zippered pocket for additional storage. All of the zippers come with pull cords which is an added bonus because I never have to spend time searching for the zippers (as if zipper searching was a huge drain on my time. LOL). I also occasionally lug this around by the pull cords.I LOVE that things zips close because I can just shove things in there, zip it up and go about my business! I also love that there is enough room on the inside that I can carry both a notebook and a calendar in there! It's basically my one-stop-shop during meetings. The less good: The pen/pencil compartment on the front has extended sides on it so that widens as you put things into it. However, the bottom of the compartment doesn't expand at all. This, of course, isn't a huge deal and it doesn't really take away from the overall functionality...a little extra give at the bottom would be the icing on the cake! I personally don't get a lot of use out of the large zipper pocket on the back either. This is probably because it's really flat and doesn't expand at all. This probably wouldn't be an issue, but since I do carry both a notebook and a calendar on the inside, it makes the back pocket pretty snug.Despite the minor setbacks, this is a definitely a 5-star item from an equally as impressive company. The shipping is always fast. Each item always arrives with a handwritten note of thanks and they're always so responsive and timely with questions/inquiries.I'd love this product even more if there was a handle or strap on it for carrying it around. I sometimes find that I'm carrying multiple things around to meetings (water bottle, etc.), having a handle would make it much easier to carry everything.

Much larger then traditional steno pocket pads.
It's a great high quality product. My only gripe is it's much larger then I measured. My little erasable steno is tiny in it. It was so large I started putting my super thick, leather wrapped guitar journal in it, just to protect the pages. Kind of an in between size for me. Too large for my steno, but to small to put a full size erasable in it. My steno of choice is a rocketbook smart reusable. I use it to record all the people I speak to on ham radio. Had a service name tape made with my call, and it's just the right size for official name tapes. Got the spray bottle for water to wipe my steno clean. And the business card holder, is perfect for holding my fcc license. 5/5 will buy more add ons in the future.

I'm and organizationalholic!
I collect notebooks, pens covers looking for that perfect way to organize myself. I've bought notebook covers like this before but they either have been too cheap or just didn't work the way I wanted them to. I first got this notebook and was disappointed because it didn't fit a Rhodia N 16 notepad like I thought it would. But I went to return this cover and examined it further. Great quality, well thought out modular add ons etc. So I changed my mind and modified the back of the Rhodia to fit this cover and it has worked well. I'm now buying some of the add-ons instead...>>>. It came in a timely fashion and customer service was immediately responsive to my return request before I changed my mind. Highly recommend.

Great for COMT and CTR book
I'm resourced as a COMT and was looking for something to put in my thigh pocket of my greens to keep my frequency lists, CTR book, IAPs, maps, etc. PA-DCNR used to issue their ICT5s a MAXpedition binder cover, but MAXpedition discontinued that cover. Which turns out is a good thing, because this cover is a whole lot better. The quality of construction is better, the flexibility in organization is better, and the different accessory choices are better. I use the Rite in the Rain tactical ring binder inserted like the video for stiffness when writing notes in the fieldThere are only two negatives that I could find now that I was actually able to use it on an incident. The elastic pen loops in the front flap are tight enough that if you have a pen that has a comfort grip, or a rubberized texture to it, it is very difficult to insert and remove the pen. However, a smooth pen works just fine, and even an oversized smooth marker (Sharpie) slides in and out just fine. The only other negative I found was that if you have a lot of stuff in that front flap and pockets, it makes it really thick to slide in and out of your BDU pocket easily. It could have been that I had too much stuff that I thought I would need, and using it over the two weeks I pared down what I put in that flap and pocket and put it in other places.Overall, it's a great cover and I would definitely purchase again. But I don't think I'll need to, it's built tough enough that I probably won't wear it out.Onelick

Durable but a bit too small
Just got this today for an 8 1/4 x 5 1/2 notebook. Should have purchased the next size up, the tactical leader book . This fits but pretty snug. Material and build is excellent as expected and will last a long time. However since I would have to pay to ship it back and then shipping again to get a new one, so about $40 all total, it is not worth it. Hopefully it stretches a bit with use.

Great piece of kit
Great for out in the field to write orders. It is not waterproof, so you will need to put it in a plastic bag
