Monacor ECM-200 Electret Desk Microphone

I bought this to use as a talkback mic to go from my control room to the vocal booth. Now the mic itself is actually very good and clear, even when i was far away and the levels were low the person on the listening end could always hear me. However, when this arrived, the screw plate at the bottom had a screw that threaded on its first turn and was so stiff i had to use pliers to loosen it enough to turn the plate to insert the battery. Once all hooked up, i noticed massive voltage spikes going into my soundcard causing it to peak every time i press and release either button. I'm truely surprised that they didn't put a circuit to stop the pops considering this is a talkback/paging mic. I can see this causing damage to my £800 soundcard as well as possibly damaging someones ears. After a week of use, the buttons started squeaking so i gave up and returned it.Would not buy this again.

Was great for the first night but after that the buttons started to make this horrible grinding squeak and now the push to talk button only works about 50-70% of the time. Keep looking if you need a long-term push to talk mic.

Loud click when talk button pressed - then it packed up afera couple of months.

This was a great and cheap buy. I run a studio and needed this desk microphone to be able to communicate from the control room with the musicians inside the recording booth. It works like a charm, without any electricity, just a normal battery.

The way this works is pressing the talk or lock button switches it on (it's powered by an AA battery). Unfortunately this sends a loud click through the audio, making it pretty useless for talkback applications.
