Excellent for near field listening!! 🔥🎶🎶
picked up two of these speakers to use as a stereo pair on my desktop while working from home, and I couldn’t be happier with the setup. The stereo pairing was quick and painless—no frustrating setup process, just simple and intuitive. Once connected, the sound really opens up. You get a nice, wide soundstage that makes music feel more immersive without being overwhelming at close range. What impressed me most is how balanced everything sounds. The highs are clear without being sharp, mids are present and natural (great for vocals and acoustic music), and the bass is tight and controlled—not boomy or muddy, which is perfect for a desk environment. Another underrated feature is the charging docks. Being able to just drop the speakers onto the dock instead of constantly plugging and unplugging cables makes daily use feel effortless. Overall, this setup has been perfect for my work-from-home desk: clean sound, easy usability, and just the right amount of power. If you’re considering a compact stereo setup for near-field listening, this is a fantastic option.

Very good
I have been looking for a speaker for so long to be able to use on my phone for phone calls. This is the best speaker I have. Come across in a long time. It has good sound to work for music and that links up to your phone right away. No hassle on linking i also like how it has a magnetic power base to it. So you can just pick it up and take it with you. I have not tested how long the battery last in it? Seeing that, i'm mostly using it for phone calls and not music

The quirky but AWESOME “mini studio monitor”
Quirky Sony is the BEST Sony. I am sure Sony will not sell a ton of these due to the price and lack of marketing , but the sound quality is super balanced and really awesome for such a small speaker! The speaker is always in a standby mode ready to connect to your Bluetooth device so I don’t have to go turn it on and off. **I love that.** (even when off of its charger) The battery life last forever I literally drop it on the dock maybe once a week and use it all the time This is the kind of speaker you just kind of move around from room to room around your house. It’s kind of a niche product that only Sony can produce. This has like a small studio monitor set up. It has a small woofer and a dome Twitter underneath the cloth cover. The sound is adjustable, but I use the stock EQ setting because it’s more than perfect for my needs. It is also light water resistant for use in the bathroom or kitchen…pretty much anywhere around the house. I own lots of very expensive portable speakers, including the Bang & Olufsen Beosound A5 and Level. This actually impressed me more than the B&O products and I use it more around the house! I couldn’t care less about the price and would gladly pay what they are asking here because of its quirky, unique and awesome design! The only thing I wish it had would be a user replaceable battery otherwise it’s almost perfect for my needs. I liked it so much I bought a second unit!

Yes it has a USB-C port to charge without the dock.
This is a nice portable speaker. It comes with a dock and usb cable included in the box (no charging block). The dock has this cool marbled look to it which is hard to see in the product photos so I uploaded one that shows it a bit better. Setup works super easy. As soon as I powered it up the first time my devices automatically prompted to add it even though neither was in the bluetooth setup screen. The Sound Connect app gives you a bit more options like setting up an equalizer or setup a music service like the spotify tap function. This allows you to hit the triangle/circle button on the top to start playing music when you power up the speaker even if you weren't playing music before. It also allows you to jump to different playlists (from what I can tell it just picks random ones) if you aren't liking the current one. It is a bit limited but convenient since you can just hit a button rather than having to pull out your phone and manually search something up. It does get loud for its size but it still is just about 4.5in sitting on top of it's dock so it's not going to give you the monster sound of a large speaker. The sound itself is a bit bassy but it definitely lacks some punch on the low end bass notes. The speaker dock part is centered and circle shaped on the speaker itself which allows you the speaker to sit facing any of the 4 directions on the dock and still charge. The back of the speaker has this rubber ring which makes it really easy to carry around. The speaker has great battery life, I can use it all day without having to worry about charge. The app also allows to limit charging to 90% which is great for day to day usage. This helps limit battery degradation and the battery lasts long enough where even the 90% gets through the day without issue. I would like to see an 80% option but nice to have even the 90% one included. I was worried about this at first specially taking it on the go since I didn't want to carry the dock but luckily there is a USB-C port built in so you can rest easy knowing you can leave the dock at home and still charge. I didn't see this mentioned in any of the product photos but it was a welcome surprise. Much like my WH-1000XM4 it allows for connecting multiple devices at the same time and seamlessly switches between both as they play sound. I really like that feature in my headphones so it's nice to see it here. It's nice to see Sony starting to use more conventional names and not just random letter/numbers which makes it hard to follow product lines. Overall really happy with this speaker.

A High Quality Portable Speaker
Pricey but pretty great. I wanted BT speakers that could pair in stereo without using an app and these work great. I use two in stereo on my desk, carry one around the house sometimes, use with my BT record player, and when at the drive-in theater via an FM radio to BT transmitter so they can receive the audio. They also make fantastic computer speakers.

Powerful Portable Sound
This is my first Sony portable bluetooth speaker, and I am impressed by the combination of a compact form factor with excellent sound. This is a well-designed, high performing little speaker. The set comes with a charging base, a USB-C to USB-A charging cable, and the speaker itself. The base is heavy enough that it won’t slide around, and the charging cable is long enough to provide some flexibility in placement. The speaker itself can also be charged directly by USB-C, so you’ve got plenty of options for your music. Pairing is simple, though I did need to reboot my phone after installing the Sound Connect app. Once you’re connected, you’ll have access to a number of smart speaker functions, as well as an equalizer, auto-play options and bluetooth connection options. I played with all of them, but ultimately find I’m using the speaker primarily as… a speaker. And what a speaker it is! The default sound mix is fantastic. It’s remarkable how much sound can come out of such a small speaker, particularly such solid bass. I ended up bumping the “Clear Bass” slider in the equalizer and making some minor adjustments to tailor the sound to my tastes (there’s a feature in the app to help you do this, too), and ever since I’ve just been sitting back and enjoying. This speaker holds its own against any compact speaker out there, and far surpasses what I’ve heard from competitor smart speakers (such as those produced by this site, as well as a certain fruit brand’s mini speaker).

High quality speaker
This is a high-quality Sony speaker. It’s easy to connect. Bluetooth and the size makes it perfect for portability to take on the go. The sound quality is superb. The battery charge holds for a long time and I’m able to use it for hours on end before even having to recharge it. You can tell the speaker was built with quality in mind and made to last. While it is expensive, it’s an investment, and this speaker is going to last many years, making it a great value for what I paid.

Good for the size
Sony is trying to establish a LinkBuds ecosystem. They have two earbuds and this speaker. The benefit of adding the speaker to the earbuds is having the ability to automatically switch between the earbuds and speaker. The LinkBuds speaker is an entire package. It comes with a charging stand, there’s a carrier ring built-in, and it has a long battery life. It’s rated for some water resistance, it shouldn’t be submerged. Pairing is easy. It supports Google Fast Pair, everyone else has to go through their device settings. It also support Spotify Tap and something similar for Amazon Music. Sony’s redesigned app is solid, it’s easy to use and gives you access to tons of features. The first thing I did was EQ the speaker and found the profile I liked, then tuned it from there. The amount of bass this outputs is ample for the price. Sony’s entry-level Ult Wear 1 has more bass, but it’s also twice as large. This is a speaker meant to blend in on a shelf or counter. Hugh are present as are mids, they are recessed. There’s enough volume for a kitchen, office, or bedroom. The speaker’s sound was spread out too much in my living room that the bass was lost. This isn’t going to replace a speaker that’s larger. But it’s not designed to. The crowning feature is being able to switch from the new LinkBuds Fit and LinkBuds Open to the speaker. Both have to be on but, put the earbuds away and the audio will eventually switch over to the speaker. It takes a solid 15-30 seconds, but it works. Put the earbuds back in and they will take back over. It’s a neat feature, you just need to make sure the speaker is on when doing this. Overall, this is a nice home Bluetooth speaker. I wouldn’t take it on trips, but it’s nice around the house and the yard. Battery life is over 20 hours and it’s rugged enough to splash it. Dropping it in the pool will likely ruin the speaker, it also won’t float.
