Was looking for Christmas presents for my fisherman husband and came across this reel that should make a great replacement on one of his rods. Ordered it and thanks to Amazon Prime it was here in two days. Before I wrapped it up I checked it out and tried it on the rod and here is what I found…This reel has a nice, large spool on it to accommodate line for both trolling and bottom fishing. Made for up to 18 lb test at 280 yards. Has ten ball bearings. Handle has divots for gripping. Good for braided line. Seems tightly made.The spool is vented which keeps the weight down. For some this would would be a big plus. However, this will allow debris to get under the spool when winding the reel, so it is not ideal for rough conditions - like surf fishing on the beach.The quality deserves five stars but the vented design brings this down because it limits salt water usage. Wish I could give it four and a half stars... First let me say that I love to fish. I live in Southwest Florida and fishing is a way of life for me. I bought this for real to try out thinking I would save some money. Well not only did I save some money but I got a really good fishing reel. So far I have caught 27 fish with it in two weeks. And yesterday I caught a 35 pound barracuda. The action is very smooth but the drag is just a little week. Once you get use to it it’s not an issue at all. I would definitely recommend this reel to the beginner fisherman all the way to the avid pro. I am a property manager to a couple houses here, I will be buying more of these reels to let the renters use. This reel matches up to some of my very Expensive ones. Great buy!!

I haven't purchased a new spinning reel for a while, but I needed a new one to go with my new rod. I've discovered this great, very little known fishing place which is full of bass (and a few gators). This reel arrived nicely packaged. I loaded it with 6 pound test. I attached it to my rod, loaded a worm onto the hook, and cast into the secret fishin' spot.This reel is smooth! Like silky smooth. And quiet. And functions flawlessly. The drag is really easy to adjust. It is lightweight.This reel is a definite buy. It is well designed, well engineered, and well constructed. Highly recommended.

This is my 3d purchase of the Grim 4000. Although primarily using bait cast equipment for bass fishing I still carry one spinning rig for lighter weight lures and finesse fishing. The Grim 4000 coupled with the Runcl Jupiter rod has proven to be the most suitable. The Grim is a strong reel, excellent drag system, and 100% reliable in all conditions. Many spinning reels require a soft drag setting for the drag to even work. That’s not the case with the Grim, resulting in a strong hook set and better control of the fish. I bought one as a gift and one as back-up, and the one rigged up. It’s doubtful there will ever be a need for the backup. Great reel-wouldn’t be without it. I purchased this reel to use for lightweight lures and finesse worms and it did not disappoint. It cast smoothly and very far for such light lures. It has a firm bail and the collapsible handle is a really cool feature. Before I realized you could lock it I was skeptical but it’s very easy to lock and it’s just an all around good reel. I would defiantly refer this to a friend.

A great purchase. Made very well, it is as light as plastic reels but is made from aluminum so it's super sturdy. It fit snugly on the rod that I already had. Feels very secure while you're reeling in line and casting. Doesn't get tangled. Easy to store.

Received my GRIM I3000 the other day. Extremely quick shipping came in 2 days. Right out of the box it looks great, and feels great. Today I took it down to the lake to give it a shot. Awesome to cast! Super Smooth! There’s nothing cheap about this reel. Only down side was I didn’t catch anything....

This is an excellent reel for the price. The reel moves absolutely perfectly with no problems at all and holds a decent amount of line with no issues. It was a gift for my dad, but I was so jealous that I will definitely be getting one for myself. I will absolutely be getting myself one ir two of these!

Just as good as my Lews and Abu. I'd say for the price can't beat it it's very smooth. I put braid on it and has performed well again 5and 6 lb bass.

I like how smooth the reel is. I used it to fish lake trout on Lake Superior and it did great

Solid and reliable. I use this on the Chesapeake Bay with the RUNCL 80# braid line on one side of my Hobie Pro PA.

I REALLY liked the feel of this reel. I actually bought 2 of them...but here is the kicker...I bought the 6000 series (the big one) as I fish salt water.

Junk. Drag won't tighten down after using about 10 times. Retrieve will not work if drag won't tighten. Save you money. Buy something with some quality.Update.

Haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I am very satisfied with the quality of the reel.

It looked all great and felt all great but the first using this reel the handle part from the inside snapped and all we caught with that reel was a Small fish.

Great reel for the price. Very smooth operation. The overall size of 4000 reel is slightly larger than comparable reels.
