Why is this grease needed ? Lots of chain and bar oil gets into the sprocket anyway. Have not had a problem with lubrication without this grease.

Good question. I can see that you'd think that. Truth is the bar slot that the chain rides in becomes loaded with debris which blocks bar oil and increases friction. If you remove your bar and chain, slide a piece of wood around that slot (I use a modified chop stick) to clean it out. When reassembled, 2 pumps of bar grease at the roller bearing. If done, your equipment will run cooler and last longer. Happy sawing.
