Anomasu Tactical Heavyweight Balaclava Outdoor Sports Mask

The piece that come up in front is actually a 4 1/2" flap comprised of a double thickness of fleece material that goes all the way around the inside of the hood. This flap, when up, adds a significant amount of insulation around the entire lower part of the head as well as across the lower face. When the flap is down, it sits pretty much unnoticed and out of the way. This is a great design overall. The extra material, however, does make the hood bulkier which means it cannot be folded as small. For example, it will not fit in any of my vest or coat pockets (see update below).OK, there is an issue of a strong chemical smell when it first arrives. You will probably want to wash the hood before you wear it. I soaked it in a bucket of soapy water for a couple of hours with a good rinse afterwards before I machine washed it. The result is that 95% of the chemical smell is gone. I can now comfortable wear it but plan to repeat this process some time in the future.I have a large head and the hood fits me quite comfortably. The shroud tucks well into a vest or jacket. The fleece is thick enough to provides lots of warmth. I have a Condor Watch Cap Navy Blue that complements the hood quite well.Update 18 Jan 18: I mentioned above that the hood is too bulky to fit in my vest pocket. Well, with a little compression is actually fits fine. I can actually zip the pocket closed and carry the hood in the vest without any issues. My neck is very sensitive to the cold, and I often wear the hood in the down position with the flap up as a neck gaiter.

This is overall a very solid product.Pros:* Soft material* Nice large hood* Keeps my face and head warm even in temperatures well below freezing* Price is excellent for what you get* Easy to put on* Excellent style that seems to go well even with clothing of a different color* It's easy to pull the mask part down so it is just a hood with a high collarCons:* A little lumpy in places* The mask part should probably be made out of a different, more breathable material around the mouth, or it will trap moisture* The mask should probably be more elastic, so that it can fit more snugly on your face. If you're taking it down and putting it up at all, it gets loose, and will sit an inch or three away from your mouth, which kind of defeats the point.* The soft material attracts dust immediately, which stands out a LOT and is can't be easily brushed off, but almost requires cleaning* With the mask down, it's hard to get off because the neck hole... Contracts somehow?Overall, it's a great buy, especially for the price. I expect if it was more expensive (in the $20+ range) they may pay more attention to the materials and fit, and then it would become basically indispensable. But at this price, fancy materials would be overkill. The fitting, however, could definitely be improved on the mask and neck hole in particular.

Was going night hiking and then I wanted to get an extra one for the girlfriend because we all know that she will not be prepared for the cold weather. Went to the spot and it was about 2AM and she was freezing and of course being the five star coolest boyfriend in the world, I gave this to her and it fit her perfectly. The fabric of course causes a lot of lint to attract to it. It was about 50 F and she was really comfortable with it as it protects the nose and mouth. She used it all the way until sunrise and then opted to go without it as it was getting a little warmer plus climbing a mountain will do that to you

Item received did not look like what is pictured (unless I got a defective one).If you look at the 2nd picture and expand it by 20-30%, that's what you get. But the first picture is completely false.I normally wear XL and XXL hats, and tend to have problems with things being too small for my head.Given that, this was so large for me that I was truly shocked. After putting it on, I could not see forward because of the angle over my face.Also, the "pull up" nose part is half the size of the pictured, and not thick/tight. It's made from the same lose material that the top is. Works amazing.. As you all know for rockin eve w.dick clark was the coldest new yrs eve in history & i live about 2 hrs from NYC so it was just as cold here & this face mask worked wonders. i wore a hat under & i got so hot i had to take it off.. getting hot in 12 degrees w.a windchill of -3 is rare. I highly recommend this especially if you live in the northern states. You can wear it many ways too if its not that cold out or if u get hot its easy to adjust. I do recommend that you wash it when you get it as it has that new smell.. Deff a 5 star product.

So seeing how every one of these is supposed to be one size fits all but can be different sizes ranging from too small to too big for some people, I will put it this way. I wear an mens XL full face motorcycle helmet and this is about that size. It's a little snug and the hood part doesn't come down super easy but it does fit and is warm. May be a little large on women or people with a skinny face. The only real coming is that I ordered the blue one that , as the picture shows, is a lighter blue with a black mask. The one I received is all one color and extremely dark blue. Almost black. Other than the color, I have no complaints. Ended up giving it to my mother though since I did get another one that fits a little better and has a mesh breathing hole.

The pictures are misleading. The hood part is impossibly huge.My husband bought this for himself since he lost his old balaclava and sadly this one was basically us just throwing our money away. I don't see how it could fit ANYONE'S head properly. If we wore it while riding our bikes, we'd die because we'd have zero visibility in this thing. Sure, you could wear it as a scarf but even then it's bulky and it defeats the purpose of buying a balaclava.
