Help to prevent accidents
I bought a mandoline, despite the fact that sharp blades scare me! But I wanted to slice things quickly and with consistent sizes. So, I also bought these gloves. I am terribly accident prone but I have managed to use my my mandoline twice and clean it three times while wearing these gloves without cutting myself. However, watch out for sharp pointed things. These gloves can only do so much and work a lot better for blades than jutting out small pointed pieces of sharp metal. For example, when I cleaned the mandoline waffle fry attachment, I poked my finger. The gloves prevented me from getting cut, but I did have a small mark on my finger where the sharp pointed part poked me. Also, these gloves were very tight when I first tried them on. I washed them in warm water and let them air dry, then tried them on again. They are now perfect. I am a woman with medium-sized hands. If you have large hands, these might not fit you.

Great protection!
I've had several pairs of these and love them. I can wash them and air dry, but over time they get stretched out and get a little discolored. I love to use it for grating as I don't skin my knuckles and the gloves don't grate into the food. They fit great and a great value- I got a pair for a friend who cut off part of a finger with a mandolin. Amazing quality, protection and grip! I highly recommend

Love helps with grating!
Someone who loves me gave me a Microplane Cut Resistant Glove to keep me safe while I shredded cheese. It works great! Now I have given them to three people I love - should be giving more at Christmas!

> Genuine Microplane---NOT for big hands
GENUINE OR FAKE? I was cautious about purchasing this items because many previous older reviews reported that the gloves were some off-brand, not Microplane. However, the packaging and a label sewn to the glove bears the Microplane logo, so I presume that Amazon has fixed the supplier problem, and these are genuine. Caveat, according to the label "Made in China". FIT Size: According to the Amazon description "one size fits all", which usually means, "it may fit" if you are a "medium"-whatever. In this case, the backside of the packaging says "Size M/L" which I presume means "medium to large". Maybe "medium to large" children's hands. I'd describe the glove as medium-small. I am a guy with slightly smaller-than-average size hands. The glove fits my hand quite snugly---it takes a bit of effort to work it on. Snug is much better than loose for this purpose---it means a secure grip. The glove fits my wife's slightly smaller hand well. Right / Left: Fits right or left hand---because it is a "flat" design, i.e., it does not perfectly fit either hand. Stretchiness is supposed to make up the difference, and does, fairly well. Nevertheless, if I were wearing the glove all-day long, I'd prefer a true right-hand or left-hand glove. Bulkiness: From other reviews, I was concerned that the glove would be bulky. It is a knit glove, so some bulkiness is inevitable, but the bulkiness is minimal. (Knit is good, it means no bulky seams inside the fingers). However, knit also means that theads can snag and pull, and if cut, can leave holes. So you need to be cautions with "snaggy" surfaces, including mandolins with upright cross-cut blades. USE It is significant that the glove is sold by Microplane, which otherwise is a grater/zester manufacturer. When I bought the glove, I investigated Microplane, and was impressed with the rave reviews. I needed a good zester, and so, I bought a Microplane. Microplane 40020 Classic Zester/Grater It is TERRIFIC, and sharp as a razor. Before using it, I couldn't imagine why one would need a cutting glove to zest a lemon. Well, maybe not zesting a lemon, but if you use it to grate nutmeg or garlic, you'll need to be VERY careful, or use the glove. If you are a cook, or there is a cook in your life, there is no better $15 gift than a Microplane grater or zester. So far, I haven't tried the glove with my mandolin---but then, I haven't been cut for 5 years (without a glove) using the mandolin---so I do not expect to be in a position to report on its effectiveness soon. > Click on “Stoney” just below the product title to see my other reviews, or leave a comment to ask a question.

Must have in the kitchen
Ordered this as a gift to accompany a Microplane stand up cheese grater. If you want to avoid a cut nail or knuckle in your cheese , then this is a must have. I also use mine to hold vegetables when slicing thin, or when using my mandolin. I love mine, and the recipients loved theirs as well. If you gift a cheese grater, this is a great add on.

Keeps my fingers safe
I use a microplane to grate ginger, lemon and orange rinds for cooking. After grating my finger nail off once was enough and bought this glove. Works as intended, no cuts or grated off skin! Only issue is it is very hard to clean.

Essential equipment! Works as stated and is flexible enough that it’s not a hindrance.

I recently bought a mandolin and literally shredded the tips of the fingers on my right hand. The mandolin is really useful and fun to use, but oh, so sharp! There is a finger guard but it's not useful if you try to slice the little bits. This is when I found the microplane glove on Amazon and I haven't looked back. It's absolutely perfect for mandolin cutting and solves the problem of trying to slice the little bits that won't fit under the guard. The glove is surprisingly thin and soft and easy to work with and seems all but immune to the sharp blades. No more cuts!

Un gant vraiment pratique pour se servir d'une mandoline ou couper en sécurité. Vraiment peu epais, on sent donc bien les aliments contrairement à d'autres produits.
