Well Designed and Comfortable Headset. Fun Games for Starters.
The headset itself is quite comfortable especially for a one size fits all concept. Yes, there is a small gap on the bottom where you can the see light of your current environment but that's just a little compromise for being able to fit big and small heads, just turn off the light in your room and it will be fine. Yes it feels like goggles because it basically is a goggle just like other VR goggles out there. Unless they design it like a helmet you won't be able to get that 180 degree field of view but then a helmet VR product cannot be a one size fits all product and I'm sure that was the problem. The PS VR even works with those who wear glasses. That itself is great design. It is made of quality materials as expected. $500 mid range pricing is fair. As for the graphics, it is not limited by the headset but rather by the PS4 hardware. Currently it is limited to 1080P so ofcourse the graphics will not look that clear compared to playing on your regular HDTV. If you played other non VR PS4 games on a 100" projector for example you will see the pixelated graphics as well. That's just the way it is when you have a giant size projection when you view the PS VR. You need 4K resolution or higher in VR in order to get the graphics sharp again. The PS4 PRO's native 4K resolution should fix that problem but games will have to be designed for that system so don't expect this 1st generation of VR games to have great graphics. Wait at least another year for that. I say the graphics is very reasonable for 1st generation VR software. The immersion and detailed environment more than makes up for the sub par graphics. Also, I read from Sony that all PS VR games are required to run at a minimum of 60 FPS(Frames Per Second) in order to lessen the motion sickness effect. If the framerate is too slow, it will cause motion sickness when we are watching the VR environment skipping around in slow motion. This means a need for more processing power in order to achieve higher framerate. This means the game details will be less unless you have a very powerful hardware to run the VR game. Hey people, remember the original WII? It had crappy graphics compared to the PS3 and XBOX 360 but it sold more systems at the beginning and was generally more popular because of it's innovative controllers at the time. Well, the PS VR is like that revolution in gaming. It's like being in a game as the character. This is truly an awesome product for the PS4 console. Once 2nd generation games like Resident Evil 7 comes out with VR support, then it will be much better. But for now, it is a great start. People expect too much in the beginning. Even the VR platform itself is a brand new 1st generation hardware. We need to be a little patient for the VR industry itself to mature which will take years before we might get fully immersive VR products. Give it some time to develop. It is better than playing $9.99 or less VR games on your smart phone enabled headsets with games that are not really fully developed the way it is by big console game developer studios. Come on peeps, give it a year or two for excellent VR software games to come out for the PS VR. Enjoy what we have today for what it is.

star trek-esque
My advice is, get in on the ground floor of the future of gaming. This is a mind-blowing experience, and so worth the money, worth twice as much. If you've been thinking about buying a vr system, but have been hesitating because you don't want to be let down, or because it's too expensive right now, stop. Just stop. Order it today. Imagine your first experience with a serious gaming machine -- your first NES, for example, or your first PlayStation, or your first Pentium-driven CPU. It's like that. You thought you were done feeling that rush, but you aren't. Or remember when the first Ipod came out, and you bought it and realized your entire music library could fit in your pocket. All you could say was holy expletive. Yeah, it feels like that. We all dream of having a holodeck in our living room, and now that is one step closer to becoming a reality. Imagine a game, but instead of looking at it on a monitor or tv screen, you're inside it with the characters, immersed in the digital world, 360 degrees, and all of it beautiful. You will swear you should be able to touch what you see. Yes, you'll probably become disoriented almost immediately, but in a pleasant way. And what's particularly exciting is, your mind is going be blown by first generation products like London Heist, which are not really even full games. No, what is available right now for the vr systems are basically demos -- they hint at what the system might do in the future while still providing an incredibly entertaining experience. As soon as you put the headset on, you'll realize the potential and utter a stream of happy expletives. The future really is here. For example, VR versions of games like Skyrim will almost certainly absorb all your free hours in the very near future. Or how about a VR GTA sequel? And the online experience, just think of it. Another positive: the system so far is more of an intellectual experience than we're used to, which I appreciate. Loading Human's screenplay, for instance, is not only a well-written piece of science fiction in its own right, but contains numerous allusions to classic literary and scientific works, while Batman is more of a detective story than an action game. Playing this system is a great change of pace. In any case, the experience really is intense. I can't overstate that. It's not really for those who like to play video games at the end of the day to unwind. Dispelling negative rumors: yes, you will feel slightly ill when using the vr system, but it goes away pretty quickly. Your body will adjust over time. Take frequent rests when you're learning to play. Frankly, you'll want to rest frequently anyway, because when you're playing this system, it feels a lot like a whole body workout. And yes, the wires are uncomfortable, but there's no way of avoiding that at present. And I don't know that it's such a big deal, anyway. It's one wire (going from the headset to the vr processing unit). Keep it on the left side of your body. Next, the price tag has been complained about. Yeah, it's huge, but it's worth every penny. The resolution has been complained about, too. But play a game like Batman, for example, and you'll find that that argument doesn't hold water either. The Joker looks so good that you might have nightmares about him. Finally, the headset itself is said to be uncomfortable, but again, once you get used to it, you'll find it's actually a wonderful piece of equipment, light, sturdy, and easy to adjust. It just feels like a helmet with wraparound goggles. There's still a lot of work to be done. The games, though beautiful, are far too short and unfortunately not quite what everybody wants -- too many mysteries, films, and puzzle -oriented plotlines. Again, Batman is a good example. It feels so real that you'll find yourself drooling, but when it comes to actual gameplay? Not a lot there except puzzles. There's no combat. You can't walk. You can't drive the batmobile or fly the batwing. You just go from room to room, puzzle to puzzle. You encounter the joker, but just in a cinematic way; you can't fight and defeat him, or anybody really. Then suddenly the game's over. Loading Human is the best VR game I've played so far, but again, it's really only half a game. Rush of Blood is another good one, but you just sit in a chair while the environment washes over you. Note to the great game makers: how about some cool educational titles?

First impression: WOW. Second impression: This definitely isn't the future of all gaming.
First impression: WOW. I was on the fence about VR from the beginning, but the more I saw of the games for PSVR got me interested enough to take the plunge and buy this without even playing it somewhere else first. I'm so glad I did. You really can't describe VR accurately to someone unless they've experienced it. You really feel like you're in a completely different place. The sense of depth is incredible, and I found myself reaching up to grab objects in front of me because it felt like I could. It's a really neat sensation that you have to experience for yourself before you can understand it fully. The graphics aren't as good as you see just playing a normal PS4 game on your HDTV, but the effect of being in the space of the game is so incredible that I really stopped noticing "graphics" and was focused on being there and playing whatever the game was. That said, I am getting the PS4 Pro next month which is supposed to improve the frame rates and graphical fidelity, because honestly anything you can do to enhance the experience is worth it in my opinion. The headset itself was really easy to setup. Yes, there are a lot of cables, but I had it hooked up in less than 5 minutes, calibrated and ready to play in less than 10 total. The headset feels really nice and high quality. Very comfortable. It took me a couple of minutes to really get it fitted to my head where it felt perfect. I haven't had a chance to play anything with the Move controllers yet, so I won't talk about those. The new camera is really nice and way smaller than I expected. VR Worlds is really neat so far and I think probably the best way to introduce VR to the user. The Scavenger game made me just to TINY bit motion sick when I started moving around a lot. Not bad though. I think it will be a good idea for me personally to take dramamine if I know I'll be playing something where I'll be moving a lot. Still, really really cool stuff and I can't wait to play more. All that said, I don't believe this is the future of gaming. I know there are people out there who think VR gaming will take over and no one will be playing just sitting on the couch and looking at their TV. VR is really cool, and perfect for certain types of games, but it's really only comfortable to play for shorter periods of time and I believe it will be used as a supplemental gaming device for parties when you have friends and family over, and for very specific games that are just better in VR. Is it worth $500 (or $400), I would say absolutely. Don't take the footage you see on the internet of VR games and judge the games on that. You really have to experience them to understand what they're all about. Go to a retailer that has a PSVR that you can use, or find a friend that has one and try it for yourself.

Not a holodeck, a holo-phonebooth. Still plenty cool.
I’ve given it a couple days, and I’ll try to keep it short. Yes: It’s amazing. VR is amazing. if “being in a game” appeals to you as a concept, you will love it. I’ve only had short stints with the Vive and Oculus; but it doesn’t take long to figure, this is the best headset – when it tracks right. It’s by far the most comfortable, and with the best screen, resolution be damned. Black levels are great, colors pop nicely, and the lack of “screen door” is huge. The other two are sharper, but always look like LCD screens. 1080p isn’t great, but this headset is. Except for headphone issues, it’s perfect – while seated, or standing in ONE place. Meh: cables, welcome to cable hell, there’s no way to make this orderly while in use (Neat people may hate). PS camera cable is only 6ft – boo. So it goes, first-world-problems right? Nope: the tracking is not adequate. Take more than a step in any direction, jitters; extend your arms too far, jitters; turn around, jitters. Everyone who uses this with a Move game will exceed the limits of the tracking within moments. As soon as you become enthusiastic enough to test the limits of the move (by moving), it fails. You do learn the “rules” of where you should hold your limbs, so they can play nice with the sensor range, but this is the opposite of immersion. The interface doesn’t “transport” your arms they way it does your eyes. You can’t count on it to work, so basically any standing game that requires reflexes is likely a no-go with the move [I’d love it if I had to eat those words]. Note that all the real games such as: Rigs, Eve, or Drive Club (i.e. not “experiences”) are using the dual shock. The PSVR achieves VR visually, but not physically – the tracking sinks that. Sony selling this in a bundle without move controllers isn’t about you already having them (you don’t, they know you don’t). It’s because the PSVR does not REQUIRE them (hint here). The good games, that we might get, when we’re sick of being batman, will likely not use them. Aside from not being batman you’ll probably be fine without them. Sit down man. So here it is: VR is awesome, it looks great. The level of immersion will probably exceed your expectations. However, all the wild, amazing games of your VR dreams (Lightsabers!, boxing!, Fruit Ninja!) will either miss this generation of PSVR, or suck a butt. The games are pretty good, but that’s a different review. Also: I have a surround sound set up, and I just use that instead of headphones. It’s fine.

Best game purchase of the past few years!
I am so impressed with the PSVR system! You are totally immersed within a complete world that surrounds you! When I purchased this launch bundle it was a bit over $700, so it's a great price right now. I got 2 CD's with it - the demo disc which has several different game demos from children's games to mature rated games - so be careful which ones your children are playing. The VR worlds are absolutely fantastic - even within some worlds there are 2 options as to what type experience you want. Such as the ocean world - you can choose wildlife or shark tank. They are very different! I can't say enough about how stunning this new VR world is and as a PS fan, Sony has impressed me yet again. The direction book is very big, but very easy to follow. The only thing I wish was diffferent is I wish there were less cords. In this wireless age, it's strange to seemingly return to about 10 years ago when every device had to be connected to one another via a cable - and that is indeed the case with the PSVR system, so if you don't like cords, you're not going to like VR. However, I chose not to deduct a star for that because after all - this is the first public release of PSVR and I'm sure there will be a wireless version coming out within a year or so. As a network engineer, I know that, but I chose to purchase it now anyway. I didn't want to wait and therefore it was my choice. You also need to sit within a few feet of your TV (or at least your PSVR processing unit which connects to your PS4 and your TV), so I've got it all in the same entertainment center. It's a bit sloppy, so I would recommend getting the stand for the headset that charges the 2 motion controllers as well. It tidies the look of it up quite a bit. I wondered why I needed to use the earbuds that came with the unit - after playing 1 game, you will understand why. In many games it's important to know where the danger/sound is coming from - so those little earbuds come in very handy. I can't figure out how to make them louder than my TV just yet, but it's loud enough so that I can sense what direction to look in. It's truly mind-blowing how you can look all around you and feel so truly transported into this pseudo-world! Awesome! I am SO glad I made this purchase! Right now there are just a few games out there for adults, but hang in there - more are on the way. There are some on the PS store that are not available on Amazon and vice versa. Check all resources. I would also advise that you get a chair and sit down for the first few games - if not sit during all games. Download as many free demos before your unit arrives, that way you have games already loaded and ready to go. Most games are fairly short - especially the demos. However, I own a few full length games and surprisingly - one is several hours long, depending on how much time you spend looking around (Here they lie - horror, mature). I discovered the dizziness is way worse when standing. Especially if you're riding roller coatsters, etc. You don't stand on those, hence it's not natural to be standing while simulating riding a roller coaster. The boxes, plastic, cords, ties etc is a bit overwhelming when you first open everything up. Thankfully, the cords are numbered, so it's easy to see what your next cord is and where it needs to go. Very simple. Worked on first go. Again - can't be more pleased! I can't wait to see what kind of games will be coming out. Take the plunge - immerse yourself into another world! You won't be disappointed!

What about the health affects?
I really want to give this more stars, but my overall experience with this headset made me uneasy. The lure of this product and the unexplored territory is what made me buy it, however If I knew how I would feel after playing this for only a few minutes, I don't think I would have been so quick to purchase it. At first, it was mind blowing, everything seemed so brand new and awesome, especially when underwater. However, I felt extremely sick if I tried to play while standing up, I had to sit down. I played for about 10 minutes, trying different motions slowly and carefully and having a blast doing it, but it was the after affects that led me to rate only 3 stars. It is now a day later since I have played and I am still feeling "off" to the point where I'm not sure I will ever wear the headset again and may end up returning it. My vision has become slightly blurry, and the feeling of still wearing the headset is really making me feel uneasy.. I highly discourage allowing children to wear this, I can't imagine the impact it would have on them if I am feeling this weird after playing for only 10 minutes. I was really excited to buy this, but it ruined the classic gameplay that I am used to and makes me question how this is going to affect my health, as well as the hundreds of thousands of other people that bought this device.. IF you are prone or sensitive to motion sickness, I would definitely not purchase this. I am a huge fan of Sony and Playstation, but I think I'll stick to the controller and my T.V. instead of a screen attached to my face.

Well worth it
I took the plunge and pre-ordered this before being able to demo it at my local GameStop, and after my demo (multiple games) I was hooked. I can’t wait to get home and play with more of my PSVR. I bought this bundle, the Batman VR game, and The Rise of Tomb Raider (has a small VR experience). These games plus the demo, give me a feel for what is to come, and with that said, I’m liking what I see. It’s a little early to dive right in to new technology by some standards, but I’m happy with what I’ve seen, and look forward to more, especially RE7, January can’t come fast enough. I have on preorder; FF XV, Star Trek Bridge Crew VR, and Resident Evil 7. These should make fine additions to the PSVR experience Pros: Comfortable - I've tried the Vibe and the Oculus, this by far is the better of the three comfort-wise. Start Up Cost: my startup cost was only $500.00 since I already own a PS4. Graphics: I knew I wasn't getting a PC compatible VR headset, so I wasn't expecting PC VR graphics, with that said my expectations were met. Batman VR was visually stunning IMO. Immersive Experience: The Heist was thrilling and fun, I don’t usually play games like this. Scavenger’s Odyssey, was what I was hoping for, for the most part. It’s going to take me a while to get accustomed to the controls, but well worth the time. Sitting in my space craft was an experience well worth the wait. If No Man’s Sky goes VR, I might have to pick it back up (just for the travel experience of all the different ships). Games: VR World’s, Batman VR game, Rise of the Tomb Raider, (games coming out just after Launch: Star Trek Bridge Crew, FFXV, Resident Evil 7) all games I own or have pre ordered) Anticipation met - I wasn’t blind on what to expect, my expectations were based on spec’s, first-hand knowledge (Demo), and review’s where people were negative. It seems most people that were negative had expectations beyond what the PS4/current console gen would allow. The PS4 is an inhibiting factor, plain and simple. Con’s: The Cable mess was expected, but it doesn’t mean I was prepared for it. I have a game room and the entertainment stand is the center piece, but this is forcing me to rearrange things to try and minimize the cable clutter. There is a small gap when you have the headset on that you can look down and see thru. Apparently this was done purposely so one could see their controller. If you have any light on in the room this will become annoying, I don’t see anyone getting used to this. I guess it’s lights out. Visual perception takes some time to adjust too after taking the headset off. I hooked the system up when I went home for Lunch, and played for a few before I had to go back to work. That was a mistake. I was only able to focus in on a given point. If I turned my eyes to something else it took time to focus, and everything but what I was focused on was blurry. This subsided after about being off the game for 20-25 minutes Screen is hazy in some games (fast moving games). I tried the demo for Driveclub and it was fun, but at times blurry and out of focus, with that said I don’t know how many times I was coming up to a rail or wall and I flinched. My overall opinion is high of my new toy. I’m happy with the purchase and look forward to spending as much time as I can VR gaming.

Even the wife is enamored with this
We are just so thrilled with our PSVR that the wife now wants one so we can play online and she was never into video games until she tried the PSVR. I'm in my 50's and she's in her 30's and I picked-up a PS4 about a year ago because I wanted to try it and I've really enjoyed playing Diablo III, Risk, and many other games on it and buying the PSVR just seemed like the next logical thing to do and I was really excited about it and had high expectations. The wife and I have played 4 games on the VR Worlds disc and let me tell you, the fun of this PSVR is off-the-scale as I kept saying "You've got to be kidding me" and "OMG, this is insanity" while playing as the fun and depth perception are mind blowing and awesome. The setup was easy and the PSVR comes with step-by-step instructions as well as online videos and I was up and running very quickly. I setup the camera and the extra purchase of the Sony Gold headphones before I setup the PSVR as this seemed logical to me and they were both plug-and-play, therefore super easy. Then, I turned everything off as per the directions, hooked-up the PSVR, turned everything on, and I was up and running with the PSVR being plug-and-play too. The first thing that happened was a download of 2.0 for the PSVR and that was really quick. Setup of everything was super easy and there were no problems or issues of any kind. Then came the "taste test," finally, and I put the PSVR on and was amazed at how big everything was and I kept saying, "Oh man, this is super cool." Then, I started the VR Worlds disc and I was sold on the PSVR even before playing any of the games as the startup is absolutely amazing and must be experienced to believe as it's really like being there and there were times I said, "How can I breathe?," which was super cool and showed I was totally immersed in the games as well as the "room" of the VR Worlds. Honestly, it's all absolutely amazing. Then, the wife, whom had been apparently listening, to some degree, of my comments while I was using the PSVR and wanted to try it for herself, where this absolutely amazed me as she's not a gamer and has no interest in things like this. I gave her a brief tutorial on wearing the PSVR and the headset, as well as how to use the PS4 controller, put the PSVR and Sony Gold headset on her, gave her the PS4 controller, and off she went. She was smiling, saying "OMG," looking all over, and even moving away during Oceans Decent. She ended up playing three games back-to-back and was completely sold on this and said, "Ok, now I want one too," so we're going to order her one along with the PS4 Pro when they come out next month, and, as a matter of fact, she's waiting for me to finish typing this so we can get back on the PSVR which we played for about 9 hours yesterday. Btw, I plugged the wands and the headsets into the computer to charge them up and the headsets, two Sony Gold, were already fully charged and the wands took a few hours to fully charge, but we never even used the wands as we just used the PS4 controller. The Gold headsets are really nice and we like them much better than the earbuds that came with the PSVR, but it's cool Sony provided them in the Launch Bundle as it's an everything you need kit for your PS4. Also, we downloaded a bunch of the Free VR games and have not even tried the VR Demo Disc yet. This put a smile on my face as the wife said while we were looking at the downloads for the VR, "Oh, there's Batman, I wanna try that," which was cool because I wanna download that one too. Oh, this is important, we never had any issues with the camera tracking either of us and there was never any delay or lag, so I'm thinking all the negative posts on this are from Vive, Rift, and Xbox trolls. We're using a nice computer chair with the PSVR so we can sit, swivel, and lean back, and this works out really well with the PSVR. The wife and I are really looking forward to doing the VR thing online together, so come on PS4 Pro, we're waiting on you.

Gran experiencia
