Very important to use to not hit electrical things.
It's a little goofy to use at first, but you get used to it quick enough. You have to let it acquire while on the wall. But not only can you find the wood studs, mark with a little chalk, and you can see where all the frames are....You can see where the electrical runs are.You don't need exact electrical, it can be a little funny about that, but who cares, I just stay far away from where it lights up with that warning.

Too Many Issues
I can't say enough poor things about the M4 and the company. But, here are a few;1) Zircon has a huge selection of similar products, with no chart to understand how to compare them easily.2) The Video instructions are slightly different than the written instructions.3) After absorbing how to use the M4, three scans of the exact same track on the wall resulted in three different outcomes. Studs disappeared, no electricity on one scan, the next showed an entire 4' square area with electricity.4) The unit is clumsy to use. No human-factors were considered in the design. When this unit is discontinued, how about the redesign having a way to still hold onto the unit with one hand while I hold onto my ladder with my other hand when the On Button is released.5) How about having the QR code link to the Manual like you promised, rather than making me hunt for it on your general website. Considering the manual is just one page in very small print, perhaps folding it up and including it?6) I am not using this every day, so I will forget what all the encoded flashes, lights, and symbols mean. Perhaps a chart on the back for a quick reference.Enough.....it is on it's way back.

easy to use
works well, has a bit more trouble with accuracy when attempting to read through 3/4 inch wood wall, the ovrlap on wood can cause it to say there is a 2x4 where none exist.

Zircom M4 SuperScan -- Not for Metal Studs
My house is primarily medal studs. Only one of the bathroom walls has wood in it. Unfortunately, the M4 was not able to locate the location of the studs. I would not recommend this device if you have a metal studded home. I will be looking for another scanner.

Stud finder that works pretty well, has a great display, but is rather bulky.
Good stud finder with nice, clean and clear display. I really like how it lights up differently when it detects metal or electricity. This thing is bulky, so it will need plenty of space in your tool bag or organization system. I really like its projected arrow when the center is detected as it makes it easier to make a quick mark. Overall, this is a more reliable stud finder than what I have had in the past, but still has some of the same quirks (how you press the button to engage the scan, estimate material depth, etc.). It does seem durable but that test is one I try not to push, I do know that I dropped it a few feet and it remained intact, so there's that. Pretty straight forward in terms of usability, but the directions should be able to answer most user's questions (the back of the package also has some quick-start like instructions but it easily tears when opening). If you need a good stud finder that clearly displays the edges, this one does that well.

Didn't work out of the box
As soon as it arrived I tried it out. Didn't come with a battery so I used one I bought from Amazon. Didn't work. Thought maybe the battery was bad. So I went to a local store and bought a new battery. Still didn't work. It wasn't super clear on how it should work. So I thought maybe it was me. After a little Googling and finding reviews I realized it was just broken. It came in a sealed plastic container (those containers you need scissors to open them). So it wasn't a returned item or anything. On a good note, returning it was easy. Said it didn't work, started a return. One option was to drop it off at Staples. The Staples was right beside a Home Depot. So I dropped it off at Staples, went to Home Depot and bought a stud finder for a third the price. That one worked fine.

Quality that works
This is a stud finder that does work through thick wall covering, where other top brands claim to but don't generally
User
Works well, but hard to hold due to design
Yes it works very well, better than others I’ve tried by far… but the reason I didn’t give it a 5 star review is the ergonomics.. the way it’s tapered in the hand while using it is not comfortable to hold.If it was square or 90 degree edges it would be wonderful, but the way it is doesn’t give you a good grip which is important while reaching across a wall.
