Works great for carbide lathe bits.
I bought these to be used on my work sharp ws2000 to see if i could also sharpen metal lathe carbide bits. Yes it does and works great. It is quite easy to hold the bits free hand and get the angle i want. Obviously used to sharpon other items as well, scissors, etc. works as advertised, it easy to flip the discs and use something else. This is a Good product.

Diamond Sharpening
The first time I tried this it worked really well. The wood turning chisels seemed much sharper than when sharpened with sandpaper. The whole process was much quicker, and the chisels cut really well.I have not had them long enough to see how long they last, that is why they only got a 4 star. They will also get used to sharpen small carbide cutters. Presume they will work but may shorten the life a bit.If they last as long as claimed this is a great buy, if not then they are overpriced.

You sent me damaged product
The discs were warped. This makes them useless. I would say more, but I don't talk like that. Have a nice day

Very disappointed
Recently purchased both the sharpening and honing kits. Relatively expensive to say the least but I had high hopes. I have used the WorkSharp 3000 for chisels primarily and it was very slow, the sandpaper discs wore out quickly, and there was a consistent problem with heat build-up. Also, I purchased the knife sharpening jig and it works simply great-- EZ to use and gets knives way sharp. So, was looking forward to using the DMT diamond disc kits.Major disappointment. Used the coarse disc to flatten backs of 6 new wood chisels of moderate price and quality as a 1st step. Flattened the backs "OK" but not nearly as quickly as I anticipated they would. Little heat build-up so that was a positive. However, cutting debris quickly built up on the disc and has since proven to be essentially impossible to remove. This effectively leaves certain areas of the coarse disc unable to effectively cut-- similar to how a piece of sandpaper is once it gets clogged with leftover sanding grit. Getting to an acceptable level of flatness with the backs of the chisels, I moved on to sharpening of the bevels. Starting with the coarse disc again & after a couple of chisels, there was a circular "worn out" spot on the cutting surface of the diamond disc. All the diamond grit was gone & a smooth surface was all that was left in that particular area of the disc. I wondered if I used excessive pressure-- but I was clearly not "bearing down" (or up with the WorkSharp sharpening port), so I am left being extremely surprised that the disc basically wore out this quickly in the area of the disc used by the WorkSharp for smaller chisels. In my opinion, this just should not have happened and made me wonder if I had gotten a "bad" disc like some others have commented in reviews either here or elsewhere. I could, of course, move the chisel to areas further over on the sharpening port, but fairly quickly I began to see the same thing happening there. I am not impressed-- at least in a positive way,. Beyond that, progressively moved on to the 600 and 1200 discs but was again saw that the cutting action was not particularly fast. And again, the cutting debris also built up on both these discs altho. not nearly as badly as with the coarse one. This seems to be a real problem tho. as the debris seems to essentially bond to the disc or something. I've tried cleaning the discs with the "big eraser" used with sandpaper & that does little to nothing. I've also tried various solvents & also scrubbing the discs with solvent. Again, no dice. Finally, I had a chance to talk to an experienced woodworker at a benefit dinner I attended recently. He told he had had the same problem and has never attempted to use the discs again. As an aside, we also discussed the WorkSharp's inherent tendency to leave a skewed edge on chisels-- particularly noticeable on the smaller ones. The only way I have found to correct the skew is on a sharpening plate.

Okay product. It might save some money in the long run, but isn't as accurate as the adhesive paper and glass setup.
It's not bad, but it doesn't lie as flat as the adhesive paper on glass does. The magnet does an okay job of holding the plate but not perfectly. I will not buy another one as it isn't worth the money and the original adhesive paper and glass does a better overall job of sharpening.

Works good.
These plates work great with my Worksharp 3000. I like the magnetic backing plate. It makes sharpening knives and chisels so much easier than by hand.
