At this price, I'm not sure what people were expecting.
I was looking for a compact stand to house my growing 4k collection when I came across this. At the time of purchase it was just under $11, so it's obviously not going to be some high end, super great product. Initially putting it together is a bit annoying, but it's nothing mind bending. The easiest way I found was mostly just putting the screws in part way, to hold the middle pieces, before tightening them up. I waited until it was done before fully tightening them all. Just be sure you get them all in tightly in the end, but dont over tighten too much since this is mostly plastic. It isn't the sturdiest of things, especially when empty, but even halfway filled it seems good enough. For how much it costs, you'd be hard pressed to find something that holds more, especially at its size. As long as you're not constantly bumping into it, I dont see any reason why it won't hold up. The gap between the bars is the only thing I find annoying, but it's not even that big of a deal for me. Most of the negative reviews seem like they're from people who expected to get something with quality far above this price point. My favorite negative review was from the "CAD teacher" who couldn't figure out how to assemble it. Go in with realistic expectations for an $11, mostly plastic, media stand and you'll get just that. It isn't flashy, or super strong, but as an ultra budget item, I'd recommend it.

Relatively easy to put together but wobbly
It's cheap plastic and I had my expectations low, and it pretty much met them, but it does the job well enough for the price and is decently easy to put together. A lot of people have dinged this for being hard to put together due to simplistic instructions. I don't personally think it's that complex, and I say that as someone who hates putting furniture together. I'm actually decently impressed with how simple and utilitarian they made it. But I also caveat that with the fact that I didn't use the thing that braces it against a wall, which is possibly why it's a bit wobbly, and I left the dividers off. If you want this to be free-standing, good luck. I'm not exactly afraid of it falling over, but I'm putting it by a wall all the same. You can use a screwdriver instead of the hex key they give you, but the hex key works just fine. I didn't need any extra hardware to finish this. I didn't use a hammer, tape, or glue of any kind. The biggest ding for me is that a lot of the pieces had score marks on them, as if they got rubbed raw in whatever machine they came off of, or as if this was put together at least once before I got it, which is strange, given everything was in unopened plastic bags, which isn't generally my experience for returned items. I also didn't use the dividers. The rack is actually pretty small as is, and the dividers would have taken up a lot more space. A shelf without dividers can fit ~19 regular size DVD/blu-ray boxes, which totals to around 95 of those for five shelves. I have fewer than that, since I have some special editions and TV seasons. It can fit CDs. It can't fit Nintendo switch cases, unless you put them on their side (but I ran out of space for my shows and movies anyway, so I didn't have space for the games). The items generally sit on the shelves well without falling out, but I do agree with other reviews that it's pretty easy to make stuff fall out of this while putting stuff on it: shelves don't have bottoms exactly, and the back part of the shelf has a very low wall, and very narrow bottom section. While rearranging stuff I had stuff constantly falling into the middle section. One review suggested angling the stuff on the shelves, which I think would damage them, considering the back side of the shelf. I don't believe that's necessary, but it was a cool idea. All in all, it's not terrible for the price. But if you're willing to spend the money, there should be sturdier but still lightweight and inexpensive options out there that don't require a wall brace.

Great intersection of capacity and cost effectiveness
I'm pretty happy with this 5-shelf storage rack. I was able to fit 25 Xbox One games, 19 PS4 games, 8 Nintendo Switch games, 34 Xbox 360 games, and 7 PS3 games on it. If I could find the expansion units mentioned in the product description to get two more shelves on it, I could fit my remaining 14 PS2 games, 2 PS3 games, and my small collection of physical movies on it as well with a small amount of space left over. The interior shelves are exactly eight inches tall, which leaves a small gap of about 1.5 inches above a Blu-ray sized box and 0.5 inches above a DVD-sized box. The assembled stand is 12 3/8 inches wide at the base, 10 inches deep, 40 3/8 inches tall. A DVD sized box will stick out past that height by 2.5 inches while a Blu-ray will stick up 1.75, so keep that in mind if your space is height limited. CD cases are the slightest bit shorter than the height of the unit itself. Each shelf can fit 20 Blu-ray sized cases or 18 DVD sized cases. The included dividers will take up the width of an entire case by itself, so if you're sure you're not gonna need it on a shelf then just leave it off for the extra space. The biggest drawback is definitely the sturdiness. You should absolutely load the unit from the bottom up like a filing cabinet, but if you have pets or children then this rack has no hope. The box includes a bracket to mount the upper piece to the wall for sturdiness to mitigate this, but you should absolutely expect it to hit the floor if bumped while freestanding. It should go without saying, but Nintendo Switch cases will not fit height-wise in this rack. I had to lay mine down.

Not the best way to store CD's or DVD's
First off, I needed some kind of shelf or rack to store over 200 CD's & DVD's combined. This unit would take around 120 of them from a footlocker of mine to a storage rack and got this one to do that job. When I opened the little box which this unit came in, it was all in pieces and knew it would take an hour or so to figure out how to assemble it. Instructions were OK and to me, it seemed like a 2-person job just to put start putting this thing together and then 1 person can finish it off. Cheapie chinese plastic for sure and I can most certainly assume it came from china as this thing seems too fragile to store CD's and/or DVD's for the long haul. ONE of the bolts supplied to put this thing together did not screw all the way into the side plastic thingie piece.....figures I'd knew china would make ONE faulty bolt. Their bolts are used with a L-shaped hex wrench instead of a standard screwdriver. SO, I removed that chinese bolt and used specialty industrial clear glue to keep it together.....so far it works great! It holds about 140 CD's in slim cases or about 120 CD's in regular CD cases. I cannot say how many DVD's in their cases this storage rack holds because I use mine strictly for CD's in slim or regular CD cases and my unit is holding 132 CD's of both slim and regular cases right now. It's not very sturdy and a bit tippy at times. They should have made this storage rack a few inches wider as it's rather narrow width-wise and too tall for the narrow bottom width of this item. The only saving grace with this unit is it's lightweight and easy to move around when empty compared to a CD bookshelf. 3 stars simply because it's not worth anymore than 3 stars. Too flimsy, too wobbly, narrow width and too tall for that narrow width of this storage unit and too cheap/won't last long. I will get two 3 or 4-foot wood planks about 5 or 6 inches deep and replace the sides on this unit with the wood, drill the appropriate holes needed for the bolts and just do it as that and put some 5 or 6 inches deep x 2 inch wide wood bottoms under each side for a more stable CD/DVD storage rack which will hold the same amount of CDs or DVDs with more sturdier wooden sides on them to last longer and look better too. 3 stars.

exactly as it looks does exactly what I needed
super super easy to setup as long as you dont get overwhelmed by all the pieces. be careful not to over tighten because some pieces are plastic. each shelf holds about 17 dvd/blueray/video games with the divider attached. If you dont put the sliding divider in you could easily fit 1 maybeee 2 more. I added a pic so y'all can see, don't judge the random collection they were all the movies and games I found around my parents place. only thing to note is sturdiness, listen it was cheap and it's mostly plastic, so don't have high hopes. it is wobbly, and kinda hard to move once filled. However once you find the place to put it it won't matter. there's also an art form to placing the items on the empty shelves as they must balance to stay

More stable than it looks
Very nice. Every piece, apart from the bolts, was separately wrapped in plastic. It ships in a teeny box. You get a hex wrench for the bolts. The unit is made mostly of plastic, with aluminium bars. Once you put together one section, the others are easy and intuitive. Something like this is always going to be more stable if you fill it from the bottom up. I have left the top shelf empty for now. Media cases need to touch the back plastic lip of the shelf, then you let the case rest on the front aluminium bar, otherwise the CD or DVD/Blu-Ray/etc will drop through. The restraints included to keep everything in place on each shelf could be a little more forceful. The color of the plastic parts is more a purple than a grey smoke; easy to see if you hold any of the pre-assembled pieces to a light. All in all, a satisfactory and inexpensive solution for media storage.

Flimsy and poorly designed, not very functional, overpriced.
It's not that cheap to purchase but IS very cheaply made. I assembled one of the two I ordered, then decided to return both of them. The materials are flimsy, especially the plastic bits, they are almost paper thin. Assembly is somewhat tedious, and you have to look way down the web page to see that there is "easy assembly with enclosed tool". Not true, because this kit came with a 3mm hex wrench BUT the bolts are NOT metric, you need a non-metric 1/8" hex wrench to tighten them (1/8" is about 3.6mm, the included tool is not even close). I thought including the wrong size wrench in the kit was totally ridiculous. The biggest problem though is the design. Because it is not a solid shelf, if you don't set the CD, DVD or Blu-Ray exactly correctly on the unit, resting exactly on the rear and front bars, it falls out. You would not have this problem with a solid shelf, where you can just quickly throw discs in when putting them away. It's just a bad design. Also, the feet on this product are pretty narrow (even though the website says wide feet for stability), This unit really NEEDS to be secured to the wall with drywall anchors (supplied) to be stable. If you bumped lightly it it would fall over for sure. I am renting a nice house and can't drill holes in the walls. Looking at the website the need to secure to the walls is not readily apparent until you get the product. I guess I would have been ok with this product if it cost 5 dollars or less, and I was still in high school or living in a dormitory and this was something I was going to use for a year and then throw it away. That is about the quality of the rack. I guess I should have looked at more reviews before I bought these racks. Now I have to pay almost $10 to ship them back, a waste of money for this junk. I am just going to get a bookcase with solid shelves and be done with it.

A decent price for a decent ENOUGH product.
My only main gripe, and I suppose it's a small one, is the plastic construction of most of the assembly. I finally understood the instructional diagrams, but they could have been clearer as well. Now onto the positives. Holds a very good amount of, in my particular case, mixed media. Dvd, with or without outter sleeve, blu-ray, same, ps4 games including steel case varieties-- or likely ANYTHING in one of those. Was slightly cumbersome, but technically very easy to assemble, this is the first thing like it I've ever attempted and it seems to have come out perfectly within roughly an hour or so. The proper bolts and a small hex key/Allen wrench come included, along with some differently made screws and parts to bracket it to a wall. You'll need to provide your own phillips head screwdriver in order to use that feature, but I elected not to bother, because; 1.) The "feet" of it are very long and provide excellent stability even on my semi thick carpeting. 2.) If tightly enough bolted together there is no bend or play in the structure, it simply stands firm and rigid, yet remains light enough to pick up and move on a whim, and 3.) The provided sliding braces along each level work very well to balance and contain the things you shelve. If a shelf is full enough, you can simply slide it to one end and it will provide pressure enough to hold the entire row. At half or less capacity, simply slide the bracket against the end of the row-- it will stay in place and hold your things upright without issue. The entire thing doesn't take up a lot of space for the amount of things it actually is able to hold, either-- a very high volume of storage. My only real complaint again is the plastic material. While it isn't all out cheap, it is still plastic, and not quite the BEST plastic. Could have been worse, however. The material causes no adverse effects to the overall function of the device, I just worry about future accidents. Overall, a decent price for a decent product, it comes highly recommended from me, though results may and often do vary, so I'm no ultimate authority. Good day, and may the reader find this all helpful.

build it from the ottom up
this is is such a great product fits 130 cds and is quite sturdy but i would fasten it to the wall with the brackets provided for more sturdiness as that is what i did i bought 2 of them a great product. thank you,
