World without a Superman
A new animated movie from DC Comics. This is a sequel to the recent release 'The Death of Superman.' It continues the story on from the end of that. You might be able to get into this without having seen that, as there's enough exposition early on, but it would be better to have in order to get the most from it.It is based, as Death of Superman was, on the famous storyline from the 90's that saw Superman die and then dealt with what happened next. This is, just like Death of Superman again, somewhat updated in the story though, so it's really quite different at points to it's graphic novel original.Superman is no more. The world is having to cope without him. But Metropolis has four new heroes. When all come into the public eye, it's up to Lois Lane to ask if any of them measure up the original when it comes to being heroic. But a dangerous enemy is about to launch the second stage of their masterplan. The first spelled Doomsday for the Man of Steel. It could be the whole planet Earth next....This does have some very nice animation, and it really hits the ground running plot wise and gets going fast. There's a nice focus on Lois in driving the story, and through her it does ask the viewer the same question the comic did. All about the heroic ideal. What makes someone a hero? Do they need powers to be so? If they have them, do they use them right? This is all very well handled.Cameron Monaghan, who played Jerome on the tv show Gotham, voices the character of Superboy here - the animation is excellent in reminding you of his stature physically - and as with that show shows some great versatility in his acting, making a great impression. Rainn Wilson's Lex Luthor took a lot of getting used to first time round, but really comes to life in this. This does threaten to drift slightly in the middle, when it has a lot to do and set up story wise, but the last third - despite being different in many ways from the comic - does manage to be exciting and epic, and it does manage to have some great moments that really do elicit a strong emotional response from the viewer. The world does need people who act like Superman, and you come away from this being reminded of such. So it's an entertaining and worthwhile watch. There is an extra scene after the end credits, which sets up a new storyline that the animations will hopefully get back to in due course.Parents do note this is a twelve certificate, due to some violence and and very mild language, and one mild adult reference. The dvd has the following language and subtitle options:Languages: English, French, German.Subtitles: English, Arabic, Danish, Dutch, French, Finnish, German, Norwegian, Swedish. It comes with the usual flyer with code for downloading a copy of the film onto a digital device.Only extra is the usual long trailer/preview for another animation. In this case an upcoming release; 'Justice League Vs the Fatal Five.' Which as ever uses clips and talking heads. Some of these have unfinished animation and storyboards and not too many clips, but all the ones in here are complete. And it makes it look really good, so well worth a watch.

The reign and return
A very good movie. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars it it felt a bit slow in some places and a bit rushed in others. After the all out action and destruction of the first movie this one seems a much slower pace. The original movie was all three comic book arcs in one. DC seemed to learn from this and first movie was just the Death of Superman arc gone very well. This seems to have fallen back in to old habits this is the modern Justice League, then the be Supermen and finally the Ruturn arc all in one.The animation is good (but can someone please feet the Martian Manhunter), the battles when they do start are really good. The only problem is too many characters all at once. The do not really introduce the new Supermen the just seem to arrive (Superbly is given more time as he should). A good movie if it was made in two parts it would have been great.

It's ok
First up this is a 'part 2' so you need to watch 'Death of Superman' before it. Having been a fan of the recent animated justice league (and other DC) DVD's such as Son of Batman and Batman V Robin I have been disappointed with both this and the previous story Death of Superman. It's a well animated story but tit's much more action heavy than some of the previous stories. Maybe it's simply the death of superman story arch has appeared a lot recently but I would literally describe this as 'ok'.

Superman Returns
6 months after The Death Of Superman, 4 strangers appear each claiming to be Superman. Sequel to The Death Of Superman which you should really see first, the latest DC animated movie is a solid and enjoyable movie and faithful to the comics with Jerry O'Connell, Rebecca Romjin and Rainn Wilson returning from the Death Of Superman as the voices of Superman, Lois Lane and Lex Luther with good action. Even if you've never read the comics, you didn't really think that Superman would stay dead did you??!!

A fantastic movie.
Well, well, well! Wow! Finally, at last....DC Animated Movie Universe, appears to be on a absolutely fantastic roll.Because both, The Death of Superman, and this, it's sequel, Reign of the Supermen, are such well-written, animated and produced movies. It is very important to watch both movies back-to-back. And a great deal of Reign of The Supermen is owed to an absolutely superb voice actors, and the fact that Peter J. Komasi, is such a great writer.Of course, both of these movies have been brilliantly adapted from their original DC comic books. And Sam Liu is DC Animation director of choice.Whom really doesn't get enough credit. From beginning to end, Reign of The Supermen, is hugely entertaining watch.

Really Super
This is yet again another fantastic animated movie from the DC team at Warner Bros. The only thing I would say is that don't go expecting it to be identical to the Graphic Novels it's close but there are some major differences so I won't leave any spoilers but it's a thoroughly well put together very entertaining film.
