The 10-second jailbreak;: The helicopter escape of Joel David Kaplan

I ordered it as I wanted to hear the story of a relative. I was disappointed to come to the end of the book, not learning what happened to him after his escape.

Interesting story based on actual events. Much better than the movie (Breakout) that was very loosely based on this book.

This story was a part of my life for years. Judy was my best friend and I travelled with her and helped find the pilot. Joel's arrest and imprisonment were so painful, so terrifying and hurt everyone involved. I think Joel would have died in a Mexican prison if it wasn't for Judy and her incredible bravery. Judy was a great sister, mother and friend.

Roger Hershner, who was tragically killed in a Helicopter crash recently, was the pilot in the daring escape who helped rescue Joel Kaplan from the Mexican prison. This book is the story of how it was done, to get Joel out of the Santa Marta Acatitla prison southeast of Mexico City on Aug. 18, 1971. This book was later made into the film 'Breakout' starring Charles Bronson, Robert Duvall and a very young Randy Quaid.

this is the story of my great uncle joel, i never knew him but my dad talks about him a lot. i really hope that people read this book and see how cruel the government can be and how money can make the worst beast of people. please read this- my grandmother judy dowis was a really strong woman for going through all this to save her brothers life from a mexican prision.thank you,jill dowis
