Crystal-Clear Victory Over Weeds
โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ Crystal-Clear Victory Over Weeds Spectracide 10.8 lb Weed & Grass Killer Review โ Big Jug, Big Results The Spectracide 10.8 lb weed killer concentrate is a powerhouse for clearing unwanted plants fast โ and the clear formula is a surprisingly nice bonus. No dye means no mystery blue footprints, no stained paws, and no evidence you waged war in the driveway. I used it on cracks, fence lines, stone edges, patio blocks, and random rebel weeds that popped up like they were paying rent. Results were quick โ visible wilt within 24 hours and major clearing in just a few days. This handles grass and broadleaf weeds without negotiating terms. Mixing and application were easy following the standard concentrate dilution. It sprayed cleanly, absorbed fast, and didnโt clog my garden sprayer or declare independence halfway through the job. โ Most useful for: ๐ฟ Driveway and sidewalk cracks ๐งฑ Patio stones and block edges ๐ซ Fence line weed rebellions ๐ Concentrated, long-term yard maintenance ๐ Pros: โ Fast, effective weed kill โ No dye = no stains, no tracks โ Large 10.8 lb supply lasts a long time โ Mixes easily from concentrate โ Works on weeds + grass โ Rinses clean, sprayer friendly โ Cons / Tips: โข Itโs non-selective, meaning it kills plants you want and plants you donโt โ so aim carefully like a responsible plant assassin. โข Donโt apply right before rain for best absorption. โข Wear gloves if refilling or mixing โ concentrate is concentrated, it didnโt name itself. Bottom line: If you want a fast-working, high-value, no-dye weed killer concentrate that clears areas without staining them, this one from Spectracide delivers. Itโs effective, simple to use, and built for anyone who wants weeds gone without CSI-colored evidence. Iโd absolutely buy again! ๐ฟ๐๐๐

Easy to spread and effectively kills yard weeds for up to one month (not 5 months)
I spread this using a hand-held spreader. Unlike Scots, I found it to be light weight and well separated so it did not cause the spreader to clog or to spread unevenly. The fact that it was light weight made using the hand-held spreader a breeze. I now know to prep the yard by pulling any tall weeds and mowing first. And now the yards are growing in weed free. I will say, though, that this is my third application of a weed killer. The first time I used the spray bottle (a royal pain to use, very few and very small droplets which are difficult to spread). Several weeks later, I used a Scotts turfbuilder product with weed killer and fertilizer using one of their broadcast spreader (also annoying to spread due to the product clumping, and it being difficult to see what I was putting down). I can't use that again for a month, but the weeds are back yet again. So, this time, I used the Spectracide in granule form. The grass seems to be growing in weed free. I wish that it came in bigger bags. I had to use of bag for the back yard and buy a 2nd bag for the front. I also wish that it could take out tall weeds and that it's ability to control the weeds lasted longer. I am happy to see that it does help with weeds without destroying the grass. Hopefully, we will be out of the weed growing phase here soon.

Spectracide Weed Stop Crabgrass Preventer and Broadleaf Weed Killer...
4/18/2014 See long term results below. Zeroth- this is the only crabgrass product I've found that does not include fertilizer. First- this clearly states but I missed that this includes broadleaf weed killer, i.e., it includes multiple herbicides that work differently. I only cared that it included the Dimension herbicide. Second- I think some reviewers may be confused about application. This product contains both a pre-emergent herbicide and post emergent herbicides. The former will work if this is applied any time- it just has to be watered in. The latter has to be applied to damp leaves. Third: This includes a pre-emergent herbicide, dithiopyr/Dimension, meaning it is designed to keep some noxious seeds from sprouting, particularly crabgrass. Others it prevents include many noxious grasses and some broadleafs, including dandelions. Wiith the exception of very small crabgrass, dithiopyr won't control any of these that have sprouted, even if very small). This may be applied any time, wet or dry, but won't start working until it's watered in. Fourth- it includes broadleaf weed killers. For that to work best, the vegetation must be wet so the product sticks to the leaves, and needs to not be washed off for about 24 hours. Applied correctly it will kill a lot of weeds- if they are growing at that point. A limited selection of weeds that try to sprout later *may* be controlled. If applied early spring, the pre-emergent herbicide should help control noxious grasses and a limited set of broadleaf weeds. After things grow a bit, this can provide both pre-emergent control for seeds that sprout later in the season, and post emergent control for weeds that have sprouted. Personally, I think a purely pre-emergent makes sense for early in the season, and then a purely post emergent makes sense after a goodly crop of weeds have appeared. Application note: this is a very light and fluffy product and should only be applied in dead calm- no wind. 8/3/2014 Summary: it appeared to control the crabgrass (but read on) upgrading to four stars. I didn't keep track of which of three lawns I applied this to. I was testing three different products- Scott's crabgrass preventer, GreenView Crabgrass control, and this product. All appeared to help keep the crabgrass at bay, and given the three lawns have differing problems, it's hard to compare. Crabgrass preventer application note: one application a year may not be enough. These products work for 2-3 months, and crabgrass in my area often sprouts after that efficacy window. Unfortunately for buyers, but fortunately for online retailers, online is often the only place to purchase these products after early spring. Note on killing *existing* crabgrass: I've found two spray products that appear to effectively kill crabgrass: Fenoxaprop (Bayer hose end sprayer) and Quinclorac (GreenLight Wipe Out). I have tried the Fenoxaprop and it appears to be working, albeit slowly (as expected). I have tried the Quinclorac, a concentrate that you mix, but the reviews are positive. The GreenLight include broadleaf weed killer as well. I've also used Scott's Weed-B-Gone crabgrass killer with methearsonate. Some people say it works after many applications, but for me the effect was minimal. Scotts does have products with Quinclorac, which should work better.

Serves it's purpose for average homeowner
This is a decent product for the average homeowner. It will prevent some weeds, it will also kill some weeds. But it won't do either nearly as good as some products dedicated to either task specifically that would require just a little more experience. I used this on my lawn in the late summer / early fall to kill try and kill some stubborn summer weeds and prevent those fall germinating ones that would pop up early the next year. First, to kill the weeds, the product has to stick to them, which meant running the sprinkler for a few min to wet the lawn before spreading. Well this of course makes the product stick to everything else while you're spreading it, shoes, pant legs, spreader wheels and body, etc. So not very easy to use in that sense. It did kill a few of the weeds over a few weeks, but there were still some left that seemed to not care. For pre-emergent control, the product then needed to be watered in (after giving time to sit on the existing weeds to kill them). Fast forward several months to the spring, it does seem like it preventing a lot of weeds, maybe 75% of what I'd seen the previous year, which is good, but not great I think. This product is also expensive. If you look at the active ingredients, you can get dedicated post-emergent weed killers with the same ingredients for less to kill what you already have much more effectively. You'll still be left with enough money to buy a good dedicated pre-emergent that will then prevent almost all of the weeds for the coming season. This product does work, but don't expect too much. If you really want weed control, do a little extra research and put in the work to get some specialized products. If you don't want to worry about that and are looking for something quick and don't care too much about total control, then try this.
