chipper shredderThe machine
The machine is adequate for very small jobs. The throat opening is to small to allow any debris to be pushed in with the feed stick. Corn stalks and fodder were very difficult to get down the throat. The stalks were usually to large at the base and the fodder was hard to feed into the throat. The size of the machine makes it difficult to use on garden waste.

Dime store crap at a premium price
Feed opening is far too small to allow more than a few leaves in at a time. It would take days to clean up a yard. You know, safety is great, but your product is so 'safe' that it is useless. Feed rate is pathetic.

Chipper chips pretty good.
It mostly does ok, but you'd better be hanging on tightly when the wood touches the blades. Blades lock up too easily. I don't plan to return it though...just hang on or get smacked.

Similar to others--recognize its limitations
From its appearance, this small chipper shredder is identical to others sold under different brand names. Likely they all come form the same factory in China. A small electric chipper shredder carries the convenience of not having to drag out or rent a large gasoline shredder, fill it with gas and then spend time trying to get it started. The convenience is offset by the small chute requiring more time to chip a given amount of branches. In short, if you just have a few branches to chip, a small chipper shredder is very convenient, but if you are clearing a lot of brush or trimming many trees it's worth the time and effort to use a larger unit. What follows is my experience:Wear gloves and hang on tight! I found this unit to be quite capable of chipping ~1 1/2" diameter branches, but you have to hold the branch tightly and feed slowly. If you don't hold on tight, the branch will be whipped around dangerously and it does hurt. If you try to feed quickly you will spend a good deal of time freeing up jammed limbs. Let it feed itself, but hold the branch firmly to avoid being hit by it. One user recommended starting with the leaf side first. I found starting with the thicker side worked better. Over the years, I've used this machine on several occasions. One thing that bothered me was fine flexible branches ended up in as small straws instead of chips. The reason I am writing this review is, when I recently used it, I noticed the plastic chute has several broken areas that allow these small branches to bypass the blades. Because I don't know when the plastic had actually broken, I don't know if the failure to chip fine branches was due the chute being broken or the design of the unit. I believe the damage to the plastic chute was caused by improper usage. Instead of trimming side branched from the larger branches, I would fold them back to try to feed the entire branch. It's likely those side branches sticking out caused the breaks in the chute. Using something other than plastic would have made the machine more durable. Instead, users will need to remember it's best to feed only smooth branches into the chipper. The key to remember about all electric garden power tools is they are often less durable than gasoline models. Electric motors are subject to failure from overheating. My experience with them is they will burn out if pushed beyond their capability or not occasionally turned off to cool down. You might have noticed, I've avoided the use of the term "shredder" in this review. This is not a good device for shredding. The opening is too small to feed leaves and they don't shred well anyway. I would suspect a dedicated electric shredder like the ones that use sting trimmer lines would work much better. Limitations of a electric motors that run on house voltage probably make it difficult to design a product that will be efficient at both tasks. As long as you recognize its limitations, this can be a useful tool.Addendum: The last time I used the chipper, I had zero jams. If you want to avoid jams, branches must be fed so they end up perpendicular to the blades. What that means is they need to go straight down through the round part of the opening. The straighter the branch, the better. A slightly bent branch will feed OK, but that will limit its maximum diameter. Significantly curved branches will likely get caught in the blade and you will have to stop to free the jam.

Way below ecpectations
Guess it would be ok if you are only shredding leaves. Already gave it to a friend who voiced a desire to compost what he had from his manicured yard. He wanted to give it back but I said to pass it on to someone who could use it.

It handles sticks up to 1/2 inches fine, but most sticks bigger than that it jams ...
This chipper shredder is totally falsely advertised. It is a 1 1/2 cm chipper shredder, not 1 1/2". It handles sticks up to 1/2 inches fine, but most sticks bigger than that it jams up. Over 1" it won't chip it at all, unless it is some very soft wood like rotten cedar or something. After about the 6th time opening it up to unjam it, which takes about 5 minutes each time, I have decided to throw it away and buy a real chipper. Don't waste your time and money on this thing, unless you only want to chip twigs. You can barely even fit a 1 1/2" stick into the hole in the top, and it will almost immediately jam up on you. This has to be the worst online purchase that I have ever made. I can only guess that the Chinese manufacturers don't know or don't understand or don't care about the difference between centimeters and inches, because that is the only way that this could be listed as a 1 1/2" chipper.
