Generally just extra weight, i put them on only if expecting really close obsticles. Noticeable air drag in strong wind by pilot with/ without. Good to have for daring course choices.

The gaurds looked good on my AV2. Made sure they were secure because the did feel a little loose. Did a fun test run, not in manual mode, did the flips and all the cool tricks with the motion controller and when it came back the guards were missing. Cool 25 minutes while it lasted. If you still buy maybe get some adhesive tape to secure them.
