Nice replacement for a 12 year old Dell.
So my original plan was to pick up some parts and build my mom a new desktop PC as her old Haswell-era Dell was pretty outdated and was going to have issues with Windows 11. Mom doesn't need anything spectacular, but she tends to keep her computers for a long time, so I didn't want to go too low end. I was originally planning on doing an AM5 build with a Ryzen 7 7900X or 8700G, mid-range B650/B650-E mobo, 32GB RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD, cheapish case, and a ~600W PSU in case this computer would ever get fitted with a discrete GPU. I thought that a price ceiling of $800 would get me there using all new parts. Unfortunately, I just couldn't quite get everything for that price ( I ended up at over $950). Also considered a similar i7 build which was a little cheaper, but still a bit over $800. But then I found this Dell desktop for sale on Prime Day. For the price, the specs looked good; Arrow lake i7, 32GB RAM, and 1TB NVMe. for around $770. That's not a bad deal at all, and you'd be hard pressed to build yourself one for that amount of money. You get the tower itself, which isn't really what I'd call full-sized, a cheap chicklet keyboard, and a cheap/very light mouse. There isn't too much in the way of pre-installed shovelware. But there are some McAfee products that you'll probably want to uninstall right off the bad. The RAM is a single 32GB stick which surprised me, and you get an OEM spec NVMe SSD. There is an open slot for another stick of RAM, but no expansion options for another M.2 SSD. There is a SATA port so presumably you could add another SATA SSD if you wanted to. The stock NVMe SSD is one of those really short ones like you would find in a Steam deck, but it should be able use the longer/more common M.2. SSDs if you ever wanted to swap it out. The stock PSU is a measly 180 watts and only bronze rated at that, so a discrete GPU is going to be a big ask here. And as you may have guessed it's not a standard ATX PSU nor does the motherboard have the standard ATX power connectors. With that said, there are apparently some specific aftermarket PSUs that are compatible with this case and motherboard, and you can supposedly get up to a 460 watt PSU if you look hard enough. That would be enough PSU for a discrete GPU with around a 200-250-ish watt TDP. So something like an RTX 5060 ti or RX 9060 XT would be doable with a PSU upgrade. But you'd also have to make sure the card could physically fit because the case used here isn't exactly spacious, and you'd probably want to throw in an extra intake and exhaust fan while you're at it. Right out of the box though, this isn't an ideal gaming computer at all. The potential is there with the afore mentioned PSU upgrade, but there are probably better options if you're into gaming. But for everyday use this thing is absolutely fine, it's quiet, boots up quickly, and is very snappy in typical use. I was able to get it up and running within minutes. For the price I got it for on Prime day, I really can't complain. It's not a computer that I would buy for myself, but for my mom who just needs something reliable and easy to use, you really can't go wrong.

Reliable and super fast.
Great computer for Trading stocks. I can run three monitors, charts, scans, large trading software easily. Has 20 cores, fast loading solid state fast loading memory. Boots in under 30 seconds. And, the price doesn't break the bank.

Great value for the performance
Great basic computer for basic tasks. I paid $799 which I feel is a great deal for this computer that I have been using for about 6 weeks. It set up easily and has given me no problems. I have been very happy with my purchase so far. I bought Asurion for $78 just in case. They have been great with past purchases.

Solid machine with some limitations
I purchased this machine to replace my 7 year old desktop. It's a good machine that handle most office applications. I do some light coding and work with virtual machines to test and play with different Linux distributions. Some of th things I do not like. 7 USB 3 ports and 1 usb c port. Audio - I use legacy speakers. The only audio jack is on the front. I purchased a USB 3 port replicator to use for additional USB ports and to provide microphone/speaker inputs and outputs. Finally, I have some 2.5 inch drives. There is no place to mount them inside the machine. So I purchased a JBOD USB drive enclosure so I could still use my extra drives. I am still learning more, but the machine does boot fast. I converted it to Windows 11 Pro. Windows 11 home has some limitations, but most home users will not have an issue. Now I am moving over my legacy applications as I need them. I still have my old machine to use as a reference. This is a solid buy, but note for some users it does have some limitations.

My setup experience.
Super fast system in a compact design. A few notes from my setup experience: 1) No monitor cables are included. My two "old" Dell displays use a DVI connection. I needed to purchase a Display Port and HDMI cables with a DVI connector. 2) Front 1/8" audio jack does not support recording. I installed a Creative Sound Blaster Z SE, and the improvement in sound quality is outstanding. 3) Added external storage. I plugged in a SanDisk 1TB Extreme Pro Portable SSD to the front USB 3.0 port—quick, easy, and works great. 4) Added wireless mouse and keyboard. Total price w/upgrades: $1,240. It was well worth it!
