This is how a journal should be made. It is like a tome from yesteryear rather than a diary. The outer cover is etched with beautiful designs, bound together by stitching and kept closed by a very artful clasp. Just holding this item in your hands feels great. The pages inside are high quality and write well. I even bought a special pen just to make journaling more "official". If the manufacturer wanted to add even more class and authenticity to these exquisite diaries, I'd say make the pages grainy or faded, as if found in an old treasure box under the sand somewhere after hundreds of years. But that is merely a trifling suggestion next to how beautifully made these are. They feel like they are from another century. I loved my first purchase so much I bought another one with the lion/gryphon profile for a separate journal topic and I think I'm going to buy them all. If you don't journal, it will make an impressive gift to anyone who appreciates hand-made art.

Let me start by saying I LOVE her creations! 3 journals & 2 gorgeous, leather purses! My ONLY 'tiny' issue is, the first time I used it...it 'cracked'. The leather seemed to separate from the paper...it's still useable! I would order another in a heartbeat! So much 'style' in her bags...no matter when or where, I'll pass on any 'labeled' purse for hers...I/they always get compliments & questions...'cool' bag, where.....?

Beautiful journal! Well worth the money. If you stain the edges of the pages, it will truly look vintage. Love it!

I bought 4 of these as Christmas gifts for my daughters. I wanted them to have a nice place to keep recipe tips and notes. Everything about these are perfection. The paper is nice and thick, the feel of the book itself is superb, and the smell of leather is nice. I love the lock! I will purchase more of these.

So got this for my friend for DND he likes to hand write all the info he gets. He loves it. the leather while cheap still very nice. looks amazing. paper is the nice thicker paper.

I like first of all that the product shown is exactly what I received. That doesn't always happen anymore on Amazon. I also really like the stamp patterns and the lacing and the closure clasp. The pages are decent quality paper and seem to be woven in well enough.....BUT! Every time I pick this journal up, I'm left with rusty red stains all over my fingers. It stains other books I carry together with it. It would certainly stain my lighter color fabrics - I'd be a lot more upset if it had done so before I realized that was even a possibility. It's actually kind of ridiculous because today when I picked it up off the shelf there were literally crusts of dye crumbling off all over my hands, so I took it to the sink to see if I could ameliorate the problem some with a damp rag and some love. Well whatever this stuff is is completely water soluble and laid on thick. There's probably no way to ever get it all off reliably enough to trust around light color fabrics. I'm basically going to wrap the whole thing up in an old bandanna to carry it around in/lay down under it when I write so that I can still use the dang thing. But really....what was the designer thinking? I don't think I'll buy from here again.

I gave this as a gift ro my husband who wanted a handsome but unusual journal to write in. I myself liked it so much I almost kept it! It was great as a gift, nicely bound with lovely pages.

I'm very happy with this purchase, really nicely made and has that authentic handmade vibe to it. Really good quality paper too, love the clasp and leather detail. Would buy again as a gift for a friend.

I was immediately impressed with this product. It is a solid piece of craftsmanship. The cover is detailed and has the appearance of antiquity. The pages are bound in bundles. Drawing and writing on the pages is rewarding as the pages are quality material. This journal is made to please and made to satisfy in your possession.

Appears to be genuine leather. Well constructed, the pages are strongly stiched in and straight. The first and last pages are slightly dirty from the leather and does have a small odor, maybe from the staining but overall it's worth the price if you want a vintage looking journal.
