Great product and great price.
This stuff is great, expands a little when you break it up, and doesn't get soggy- it's perfect for giving seed the best chance for germination. It's a good sized bag, too- about 10"x13". I very much recommend it!

Back to The Roots Organic Seed Starting - Easy to Use
This Back to The Roots Organic Seed Starter is really easy to use and a good value. It retains moisture well and expands to fill several pots (12 quarts). It has good consistency and some of the seedlings appear to be starting to sprout. A good value for a nice-sized block of compressed starter, I would purchase this product again; five stars from me.

Grows right before your eyes!
It's like magic, pouring water into it, the coir grows and grows and....and if you need more than what's under the surface, keep watering. Amazing, that there is so much in this small, square package. I actually was surprised because I didn't realize I had ordered the compact version. Normally I buy Back To The Roots in an already reconstituted state. However, I think I'll buy it this way from now on. Used what I needed for indoor plant seedlings, a little topping off of my houseplants for esthetic reasons, and then added the rest to my outdoor garden. Instructions say to add about a gallon of water. If you don't think you are going to need the whole brick, water a little at a time and you can always add water.

Great product. Watch for price increases.
I really like this product. My seeds are coming up really well. I have used it in pots as well as trying my hand at seed snails. It was a real good value for the price. I only took away one star because I went to order another package and it went from $7.99 to $11.99 in a week. I'm not thrilled about that.

Effective but Messy
I’m giving this product 5 stars because it really works. I germinated snapdragons from raw seeds and it definitely works. For myself, I don’t live that it comes in a block that is really difficult to break into smaller pieces. The product description says you can use what you need, that you dont have to wet the entire block at once. It is true but it’s really difficult and really messy. You cant just break off what you need and save the rest. I’m giving this product 5 stars for its effectiveness but I personally won’t buy it again. It’s just too difficult to use and to store. You can see my baby snapdragon sprouts in this pic which was taken only 5 days after germinating.

Is it indoor plant soil, or a seed starting soil. The world may never know.
This is what I ordered but not really what I got. It’s the same as the expanding indoor potting mix, literally the exact same. They just slapped a sticker on top of the original title that said “expanding seed starting soil”. It’ll probably work the same for my plants but I think it’s horrible and divisive for them to sell me a “different” product. Makes everything worse and I hate feeling lied to by a company I buy lots of seeds and soil from (that being Back to the Roots not amazon). I’m sick of company’s getting away with selling bullcrap, and what’s the point it’s soil. I just wanna know the ph and what nutrients it’s high in so I can decide if I’m growing cucumber or whatever. Tell me what I’m actually buying or get out of my life.

Buy it!
If you grow vegetables, it helps to hold moisture when mixed in with your native soil.
