PlayzLava Lamp & Glitter Tube Arts and Craft Science Activity Set - 34+ Tools to Make a Lava Lamp, Glitter Tube, Bubbling Glitter & More for Girls, Boys, Teenagers, & Kids Age 8+

This review is for the Playz Lava Lamp & Glitter Tube Factory set. My 7yr old and 4.5 yr old enjoyed doing the experiments in this kit. Here are the things we liked and didn't like...We liked that:(1) this kit came with everything you needed except vegetable oil and scissors, which we had in the house anyways.(2) set-up for each experiment was quick and simple. My girls have no patience and this kept their attention for the entire time it took us to complete all of the experiments.(3) the instruction booklet was well written and included clear colorful illustrations. Hints and tidbits of scientific information related to each experiment were also included.(4) The colorful LED light was probably the favorite feature of these experiments, making the lava lamp and glitter tube even more magical.(5) It came with multiple experiments that could be done in the course of one afternoon.(6) It reused some parts for other experiments. They include a pipette to save the oil from the lava lamp experiment and reuse it in the bubbling glitter activity which was thoughtful (especially since I had to use my expensive avocado oil as I had no other oil! Haha)Things we didn't like:(1) The kit came shipped in the actual product box, so it was a dirty, scuffed up, and had shipping labels on it. I wouldn't be able to order this to give out as gifts.(2) It was pretty much a one time experiment kit, there is a little of the fizzy disk material left for a small lava lamp show, but thats it. However, the glitter tube has a sealed lid and so my daughter has put it on her nightstand as a decoration. She tried that with the lava lamp when I wasn't looking and spilled oil all over her carpet because the top is vented for the fizzy gas to escape.(3) The LED light lasted only a day. The foam base it was attached too got crumpled while it was in the bottom of the glitter tube so the metal contact wires were stuck against the foil circle and the battery was drained by the time we discovered the problem a couple hours later.Overall, we liked this kit and I was impressed by the thoughtfulness that went into the clear and concise instructions and all the parts that were included. Sure, the experiments are rather simple, but I am a really busy woman. I just don't have time to research experiments and track down all of the ingredients and supplies. So this worked really well for me. Having everything included and ready to go for a spontaneous science lesson when I get free time with my girls is essential!

We liked the fact that we learned how to make a lava lamp. Just didn't have enough chemicals to last past the first day.

Very fun and nice gift for a child

The kit calls for making 2 DIFFERENT kinds of lava lamps and it only gave us 1 tube. We got 2 stands and enough supplies to make 2 but only got 1 tube:( disappointing

This kit was easy to use although I wished we could keep both tubes for a while (you needed to reuse parts in order to make the glitter tube and the lava lamp)

I got this to use with my 9 year old daughter and it did not disappoint. We actually had to focus for a little bit and create something!

Directions not super specific when it came to time in microwave.
