Not a fighting game. But it's still worth your time.
Okay, let me just point something out for those who are considering getting this game.Yes, it's by Arc System Works and yes, it's a prequel to Blazblue. But what Xblaze: Code Embryo is not is a fighting game. The game is a visual novel, meaning that there is no actual gameplay involved. However, it does have an engrossing story with some very likable characters (and some not so likable). The story is set in the year 2050, 150 years before the events of Blazblue, where teenager Touya Kagari gets wrapped up in a series of events involving Seithr infected beings called Unions and the Mitsurugi Agency who hunt them down. Es, a soldier of the organization, saves Touya from a Union attack and begins living with him and his surrogate family as his protector, as Touya is targeted by a group of magic users and a psychotic killer who have their own agendas for him. While it may not be a beat em up or have any gameplay and has very little interaction, this is not a game that should be avoided! The story is deep and engrossing with cut-scenes that can change from one character to the next. Instead of making choices to decide the story's outcome, players have to read articles from an app in the game called TOi, which can be accessed through use of the square button whenever possible. Reading the articles can unlock hidden scenarios and effect the outcome of the story.Xblaze may not involve gameplay but it's defiantly worth picking up if your a Blazblue fan. If you're looking for a game that let's you relax and enjoy a good story, buy it. Those looking for gameplay might want to look elsewhere.
