Is this product appropriate for sterling silver and how long will it keep the pieces from tarnishing

Accepted Answer

Everbrite works great, but is for outdoor applications mainly, I believe.  I used it on wind chimes and a copper display plate and they are tarnish free months later.  If you have silver or other metal jewelry that you want to keep from tarnishing, you would use ProtectaClear instead.

Are everbrite and protectaclear one in the same just different branding?

Accepted Answer

No. Even though Everbrite and ProtectaClear have some similar characteristics, they are different coatings and are made from different resins. ProtectaClear is a harder resin that is better on highly polished metals. Everbrite has UV blockers and is a little thicker and is better for painted metals, anodized metals and rusted metal. Could this be used to seal a copper birdbath before applying mosaic glass chips?

Accepted Answer

Everbrite is great to seal copper bird baths.  I would recommend applying the coating over the entire birdbath including the glass chips.  You can coat it either before or after you apply the mosaic but Everbrite will seal the entire birdbath to protect the copper and the mosaic as well.  Three coats are recommended.  It sounds beautiful.

which product is best for copper molds hanging in a steamy kitchen?

No I dont suggest using Everbrite.  For your kitchen copper I suggest using Protectaclear.  You will want the clean them up and make them look as you want them to.  Coat them with 1-2 coats of the ProtectaClear and they will stay clean and bright for years.
