The Mean Green High Output Alternator is the answer to all of your charging problems. The Mean Green Alternator's tool steel rotor shaft is supported at both ends by heavy duty double sealed bearings. Even the heavy duty solid copper starter windings are sealed with high temperature insulation. Another is the heat resistant multi-function integrated regulator which continues to operate even at extreme temperatures. Do NOT Buy From Mean Green!
I've got a 2002 F250 Diesel truck with basically stock electrical but wanted more charging power. Read great reviews on the Mean Green Alternators and bit the bullet in hopes they were worth it... I was the one bitten !For 2 days the alternator smelled like it was burning, the coils have melted black stuff on them and the output voltage is not stableSeveral attempts to contact Mean Green Industries via voice mail, email, as well as comments on their web site. A month later they replied to my email and suggested that the problem would be resolved ASAP. Well its been a month now and I'm back to leaving voice mail and emails --- They have not even authorized me to return the unit !!!So $500 and over two months later and I'm NOT happy ! Their 3 year, 300,000 mile warranty does a customer no good if they hide behind the phone and computer and wont communicate

A Diesel truck owners "must have"
Our 1996 Ford Powerstroke crewcab diesel has over 290,000 miles on it and is still running strong on original drivetrain. This is the third alternator (second replacement) and none had performed as well as this one has so far. The stock and last replacement suffered from lower voltage output when the glow plugs are on during a cold start. You could tell from the lights inside the cab getting brighter when the glow plugs shut off and the voltage gage needle would come back up to the middle of the range. This alternator keeps the voltage needle almost in the middle during cold starts, so it is definitely most powerful one placed on or truck to date. The lights dimming is not at all noticeable. The truck's A/C fan also stays blowing strong on hot days in stop and go traffic with our RV hooked up and its fridge running on 12V power from the truck. (Previously the truck A/C fan would slow down when stopping and blow less air from the vents). There is a slightly different number of wires on the replacement not needing both plugs from the stock harness. The previous Ford alternators had a separate socket for a single plug, but that is not needed on this model. I simply wrapped it with electrical tape around the existing harness, just in case it is needed in the future.
