These are attractive and doing the job intended. I wouldn't say the magnets are especially 'strong' though. Overall, good for the price.

Though they never actually claimed to be otherwise, the ends on these tie backs are plastic. The magnet is adequate, but I wouldn’t describe it as particularly strong. They do what they’re meant to, and they look like they do in the pictures.

I bought 2 sets of these curtain tie backs. They are really beautiful. I bought a toasted wheat color, and I bought the red, which is a luscious shade of cherry red or leaning to a burgundy but not a deep wine red. They look very elegant. BUT the magnets on the ends are not very strong. I have light drapes upstairs that are the equivalent of or a tad heavier than a sheer and they hold those very well, but if you slip the tie onto the drape and then try to scoot the tie up a bit higher the tie just releases. It isn't a strong magnetic hold. My other room has heavier drapes, and I wasn't sure it would hold them at all...it does, but one strong breeze or hitting the bottom of the heavier drape with the vacuum and they fall off. It's almost as if the metal case on the tips or the chrome painted covering is inhibiting it's holding power. I really like them, and I'm using them, but if you have a heavy drape or drape plus a sheer, or a wider than one panel section that you want to tie back with these, then I don't think these will work. I would sort of recommend as they're really really pretty, but just be aware of the weak magnetic holding power.
