Steven Gambrel: Perspective
I**S
If only I could write a review that could convey how superb this book is.
First, I looked at Amazon reader reviews of Stephen Gambrel's first book, "Time and Place". Comments, which I sincerely agree with, included: genius...outside the box...updated yet timeless...distinctive and highly original. Now, we have this second book, expanding on Gambrel's genuine talents and abilities. The volume is designed in ways that reflect his work: confident, beautifully composed, comfortable. I've seldom seen a book that feels so sumptuous; the front and back covers are amazingly thick, a pleasure to hold. Printed in Italy with high quality paper. Even the ink smells good! Superb photos by Eric Piasecki that invite you to enjoy an overall view, an intriguing room corner or an imaginative tabletop vignette. The large images give you the opportunity to really study textures and details. And the cost of this significant book is quite reasonable, especially with Amazon's discount."Perspective" is the perfect book title. We have Gambrel's point of view, conveyed thru handsome photos and thoughtful writing (he explains his client’s needs, his concepts and the collaborations with his team and colleagues that he readily gives credit to). We also have the opportunity and pleasure of enriching our own points of view ("Perspectives") and expectations of what our homes can be.

Beautiful photos
Another fantastic book by Steven Gambel. The book itself is large in size with high quality photos. The first section has chapters featuring 7 projects in 4 large cities. The Country section includes 5 more projects. Each chapter includes a single page introduction for the project and its inspiration. Large photos are accompanied by brief descriptionsThe designs are rooted in tradition, drawing inspiration from its surroundings, reinterpreted in a fresh way. The use of color is beautiful. Each of the projects feels fresh and unique.

Beautiful images and excellent text
I am late to the party, but want to add a word. This is the second book of Gambrel’s that I have read. In addition to being an architect and designer, he is a poet. He writes eloquently and elegantly about his observations and how they prompt his thoughts about design. This book is another great read and visual feast. While I still miss Rizzoli’s high-gloss pages, the production quality of this volume is very nice.

Weak! Marvelous! Great career!
I have Gambrel's previous book which is marvelous and so preordered this follow-up. Could not be happier. I love everything he does. Fearless colour ... masculine but not predictable.

Beautiful Pictures!
The books cover is a lot more gray in colour than pictured, but that could be my computer screen displaying it that way. I happen to love gray and love the book, the pages are vividly coloured photos and huge which I love. Highly recommend.
