My daughter has mixed ethnicity (white and black) and this works great for her hair. I bought this product before but it originally didn't come with a handle (hence why I'm buying another knot genie). I really enjoy the handle and now my daughter can use it as well when her hair is wet. I typically use detangler spray on her hair and then gently use this brush starting from the bottom of her hair heading towards her scalp. Works like a charm. I have even used this while her hair is soaking wet in the shower to brush conditioner through. It's the best brush I have found for her hair type! Plus it comes in cute colors!If this works on her super curly hair I would imagine it would work on straight hair even better! I've used it on my hair and it works great. Attached is a picture of the type of hair my daughter has so maybe that will be helpful to someone curious about hair texture.

I have another knot genie brush, it is bigger and does not have a handle. Like other reviewers, I thought this one would be great since it has a handle. This one is smaller, which is okay for me, however, it is light and feels cheap. I used it on my hair and my daughter's hair, which is long and fine, and it was not the same as the original. It did not work well to get the knots out and hurt my daughter as it kept snagging on the knots. I am very disappointed in this one. I was starting to wonder if it was a fake, but then I see that some of the other reviews match my experience. This is just a bad product. Totally not worth the money.

The box makes it look like I spent a good 25$+ on this brush so that's a good start. I love finding awesome buys on amazon and the reviews led me to believe this could be the next one. For the money this was a great buy. You can tell this brush is made pretty cheaply though, i definitely do not feel confident this will last a year or more. I count 8 bristles that are bent, making me feel even less enthused after opening the box. The big test, of course, is whether it will hurt my 5 yr old daughters hair/head. I'm happy to say it does not hurt her one bit! Asking my daughter to brush her hair was always a nightmare for her. It's important so I searched for a solution. Here it is guys. I uploaded a pic for you guys to see how straight the hair comes out. I asked 1000 times "Does it hurt your hair" and she would respond "Not one bit, I don't feel anything". I'm happy. I noticed the bristles are a bit short, so you do have to brush more than with a paddle brush. I do think that's one of the reasons this doesn't hurt their hair though, so no foul if that's the case. With the two cons I would normally dock some stars but when you factor pricing in, there's no denying this is a 5 star product. Buy it now!

I bought this brush for my 2 year old. I was realy desperate, because her hair is curly and fine and it is very fast in building big knots! This knots are hard to remove as it is (tes I do you see all the products needet, detangel shampoo, spray etc) but getting rid of the knots in a yelling fighting toddler, is almost impossible. I was playing with the thought, to cut her hair short. I googled and found this product...of course I read like always the reviews and desidet to give it a chance.the Product itself, is cute, made out of plastic. I was realy skeptical, but to my surprise, it realy does work, it works really good!!! my daughters hair looks amazing and it does not hurt to get the knots out. I myself tryed it too and must say, that the brush is gliding trough my hair without hurting me (I've got thick wavy hair that tend to bilder knots as well). Overall I am very impressed and pleased with this Brush!!!!

We also have the original (no handle) Knot Genie. It works much better than this brush. I had high hopes because the lack of a handle is the biggest issue I have with the original (it's big and awkward to use - I drop it a lot). I thought this would be perfect. It seems like the bristles are softer and also the brush is contoured so the middle bristles are "indented" and don't really catch on my daughter's hair.My daughter likes this brush because it doesn't hurt, but it also doesn't work very well.

Ever since my daughter's hair has needed brushing, we've used the Knot Genie hand-held brush. It always has worked great on her ultra-fine hair. When it came time for her to brush her own hair, we were pleased to see this one - the handle gives her the reach to brush her own hair easily. The only downside I have found is that if it is dropped more than a few times on a hard surface, the brush and handle can become detached. Once that happens, it is almost impossible to get it back together for an extended period.

I love this brush! I had one for a few years then sadly last year our new puppy thought it was a chew toy. I have 2 girls one has very straight hair and the other has a head full of natural curls. This brush is wonderful on both hair types! It works wonders on tangles and when done the brush isn't full of hair that you ripped out. I opted to get one with a handle this time because the one without a handle (for me) was a little awkward to hold when brushing my girls hair. If you have to fight tangles in your child's hair or even your own, this brush is for you!!

I tried this brush on my super tangled hair after not washing it for a few weeks after having surgery and it worked great! I washed my hair first and used it on my wet hair and it worked great. I think it works best when you start from the botton of your hair and work your way up.
