Love this book and series
My toddler loves this book and others in the series. She asks for it over and over -- we have read it dozens of times. She really remembers and mentions the animals from the book even when she sees the same animal in a different book or context.

Cute book!
My daughter loves animals, and this is a cute book showing how different animals hug. Very fun to read and mimic the different hugs.

OK for the 24m old set & younger, "Cozy dozy" "Cuddle Duddle" a bit much
This book features full page illustrations of a parent animal and their baby asking the repetitive question in a very large font "How does a <animal name> hug?". The answer is the likes of "snuggle wuggle," "fluffy duffy", "swing-a-ling", "Pouchety-boing", "cuddle duddle" etc. It's pretty saccharine stuff.Age: Might be very cute for the 6m-15m set, but definitely *NOT* for a child older than 24m. Basically, if your child is at the speaking stage, they will likely be offended that you are reading this book to them. I think my son would still have been offended even at a younger age. I personally wouldn't give it as a gift at a baby shower, unless the mother thinks baby-talk is super cute.

Only for under-3-year olds
"Snuggle Wuggle" was part of our "Read aloud" program for little kids in Denver public schools. I read it to a classroom of bright 4 & 5 year olds. The illustrations are very nice, but the rhymes are like baby-talk."How does a bear hug? Snuggle-wuggle. Snuggle-wuggle.""How does a deer hug? Fluffy duffy. Fluffy duffy."This just didn't work for kids old enough to describe their halloween costumes to you. What's "wuggle"? -Is "fluffy duffy?" the sound of a hug? Seems it should be an adverb, but...I think most kids over four are delighted by Dr. Seuss' rhyming nonsense words and they get it when a "vorpal blade" goes "snicker snack", but the rhymes in this book seem geared for toddlers of pre-speech age.For kids over the age of two, don't bother with this one.

Worth hugging
This gentle book begins, "You hug your mama, and your mama hugs you." From there, the text asks how each of several animals hugs - from a bunny to a gorilla and even a bat. The question is answered for a different animal on each double-page spread using words and pictures. Both the text and the illustrations evoke a variety of senses and encourage the parent and child to hug along. A cozy book to share with a child.
