The perfect pocket pencil
Pentel Sharp Kerry is my favorite pencil. The cap snap protects the metal shaft and is very satisfying, perfect for those who enjoy fidgeting.I initially didn't think I was going to like the size or the paint finish, but it fits in my larger hand perfectly and it's not slippery. The pencil is mostly made of aluminum and plastic, making it elegant and light. I would've preferred matte, but the metallic paint looks classy and I've grown to like it. I've bought this pen in a variety of colors, the build is consistent through all of them.

This is a great looking pencil. Better than the pictures. The cap mechanism is very nice too.

Best everyday carry mechanical pencil you'll ever own.
This pencil, hands down, is the best EDC pencil you'll ever own. The Sharp Kerry comes in a variety of commonly available lead sizes, and, simply, is a solid writing/sketching/messaging instrument. I have carried one version of this or another (think of the old all-metal Pentel 5) for the past 35 years, mostly in .5 or.7 lead size and they simply are the best. One of the best features is the design, specifically the cap, which not only protects the tip and the lead, but also save you from being skewered by your pencil when you drop it in a pants pocket to go somewhere. They have a nice weight in your hand and handle tasks from writing to sketching to design without a hitch. How would I compare the older versions of Pentel's capped pencils with the modern ones? The modern ones such as the Sharp Kerry have evolved well. They are light, rugged and reliable and those are very good qualities. Pentel stayed true to one of their best-designed products and updated only is it needed to be updated versus adding meaningless features that hinder, rather than help the product. The modern version come in colors too, a handy thing if most of your EDC carry accessories are the same uniform color as all you gear, making it things challenge to find sometimes.Sure, you have lot of options out there. But don't pass this one up. It'll soon become your favorite too.

Pentel Kerry 0.5 Quality
Pentel Kerry 0.5 mm Red, total disassembly upon receiving, symmetrical appearance and threads on the plastic two piece inner cap. Aluminum cap and pocket clip is deigned for ease of opening and carrying in a garment or bag. The mechanical lead deployment and retracting is consistent with feed rates. Aluminum center piece, adds grip from the raised surfaces. The two red plastic upper and lower components screw into the silver aluminum with full thread engagement. Definitely recommend and will purchase additional items from Amazon.com and the vendor.

Solid product but description needs updating; the barrel is no longer metal.
Excellent. Nice feel, good design. Finally a pencil with a decent cap that keeps you from poking holes in your pocket. Solid fitting metal cap closes the pen up to a compact size that's easy to carry. This is the second one of these pens I've bought. First one was red, and had some problems with a loose metal ring in the cap, which was easily fixed with a bit of super glue. Second one is black and is pretty solid so far. I chose black because the description said it still had a metallic barrel and prefer an all-metal pen. The barrel was, in fact, a solid black plastic with a slight glitter to it. It's still pretty solid but the plastic seems to show nicks and tooth marks sooner than a metal barrel would, I think. It does have an eraser but it is not obvious, it's under the metal button in the cap. I submitted a photo but I'm not sure whether Amazon will add it.

Awesome
This is my fourth pencil. I love that the point is protected. If I would loosing them, I could stop buying them. Lol. No holes from the point in my shirt or pants pocket. Don’t have to retract the lead just in case. Great pencil.

Best Mechanical Pencil I've ever used.
Just received my Pentel Sharp Kerry (Red) in the mail today and I put it to the test today by drawing with it for ~3 hours now. (I bought it mostly to use it to draw with.) This pencil is just amazing and I love it already. Its made with metal and isn't a plastic barrel which gives the pencil a nice little weight to it.Drawing with previous thinner plastic mechanical pencils I always periodically had to rotate the pencil to find a sharp edge for fine lines. No need to do that with the Kerry for the most part it keeps a fine point. Also with thinner mechanical pencils my fingers would cramp after 30 minutes of drawing. For the ~3 hours I've been drawing using the Kerry today my fingers haven't cramped yet. It does an amazing job for drawing so its perfect for writing as well. The Red color isn't quite what it appears as on Amazon. In the picture for it here on Amazon its just red, but holding it the pencil appears a more dark red / maroon. Which is perfect because I like the darker shade personally. (Google "shades of red" to get an idea)Also the design of this pencil is like that of a pen. It has a cap. This confused me at first as I wasn't expecting it, but its actually really neat. There is also an eraser in the cap... and the eraser has its own little cap. The eraser itself isn't big and it precise in erasing. But I use an eraser stick on the side anyway. If you want a good quality mechanical pencil that doesn't cost a lot. Buy this Pentel Sharp Kerry and you probably won't regret it.
