My New Favorite Strobe
I was really excited to get the AD400 Pro because I had loved using the original AD600BM and the Pro seemed like a very nice upgrade. I didn’t really need the full power of the 600 and I heard the 400 was almost as bright as the original AD600, so I decided to get this one and take advantage of the smaller size, included carrying case and exchangeable mount.Right out of the box I’m really glad to have the carrying case, it just makes bringing it on location so much easier. I’m also glad that everything fits back in the case after switching to the Bowens mount, even with the bulb, reflector and cap attached. Compared to the AD600, the light itself is around the same weight but I can easily grab it in one hand which I couldn’t do with the 600. That makes it much easier to carry around on set. The AD200 is also very portable of course, but the case doesn’t really fit the parts as nicely as this does, especially the flash tube, which needs to be taken out. The charger can’t fit either and I always thought that case was kind of useless- but not with the AD400 Pro. (As a side note using the AD400 with Bowens mount accessories is also much easier than with the AD200, and the color consistency is improved too.)The AD400 Pro was about 2/3 stop less powerful than my original AD600 when I tested them, but the modeling light is far brighter which is much more important for me personally. Having that modeling light is really helpful for focusing in darker scenes and I love having both full percentage control of the power as well as a proportional setting- especially useful for visualizing multiple light setups. While the original AD600 did have a TTL version, I didn’t have it. I am really glad to have that as a standard feature on the Pro model now, it’s really convenient in quick shoots or changing environments, plus the TCM function with the Xpro trigger makes setup extremely quick even without a light meter. There are tons of other small touches with a significant impact that make it a worthy upgrade as well. There’s the color-accurate mode, more accurate 1/10 power adjustments, slightly faster recycle times, a slightly shorter flash duration and a nice handle to help adjust the angle (this comes in extra handy since the angle adjustment is no longer clicked like the original AD600).Everything else I loved about the AD600/AD200 such as high speed sync and fairly impressive recycle times has been carried over into this, and all in all I think this is pretty much the perfect strobe and the perfect upgrade for the AD600. The AD600 Pro would only really be necessary if you find yourself always pushing the limits of the original AD600’s output or battery life, and I’d only go down to the AD200 if you want to work more with speedlight or AD200 specific modifiers. The actual size of the AD200 could be a benefit of course but in a lot of cases it might be more trouble than it’s worth compared to the simple and robust AD400 Pro.Don’t mind the faces in the sample pictures; most of my clients don’t want their photos used for public posts, so my kids “helped” me take some samples for this.

Amazing light - tremendous value and capability!
I’m in the process of replacing my Bowens lighting kit with something lighter and more portable as I do a lot of photo shoots on location and tired of carrying my heavy Monolights + battery packs. I already bought two AD200Pro, which are great but wanted to add something a bit more powerful so that I could overpower the sun from a greater distance. I can’t believe how compact and powerful this strobe is! My old strobes also did not have TTL and HSS, which means It will make my life so much easier and add a lot more options when I use lighting. I love this light! It’s the perfect combination of power and size!

The Godox AD600 Pro II: My New Favorite Flash for Big Jobs
The media could not be loaded. After some hesitation, I decided to purchase the Godox AD600 Pro II, and I’m so glad I did. Initially, I was concerned about the battery performance based on some reviews of the Pro I, but I took the leap, and this flash has exceeded my expectations.I already own two AD200 Pro flashes, which are great for portability and versatility. However, I needed something with more power for larger shoots and outdoor sessions where lighting conditions can be challenging. When I found this model on a good deal on Amazon, I couldn’t pass it up.The output of the AD600 Pro II is impressive. The consistent and reliable performance has been a game-changer for my workflow. It handles large modifiers with ease, and if you pair it with a 36-inch or larger softbox, the light it produces is simply stunning. The soft, even, and flattering illumination on the subject makes it perfect for portrait work, weddings, and editorial shoots. It’s also powerful enough to compete with natural light outdoors, which is a huge plus for location photography. One feature I’ve come to appreciate is its fast recycling time. It keeps up with high-paced shoots without missing a beat, which is critical when you need to capture those perfect moments. The TTL and HSS functionalities work flawlessly, adding to the overall convenience and versatility of this flash. It integrates seamlessly with my existing gear, and the build quality feels robust, giving me confidence in its durability for long-term use. That said, there’s one area where I feel it could improve—the lack of a case or bag included in the box. For the price point, it would have been a thoughtful addition. Carrying such an investment without proper protection isn’t ideal, and while I’ve managed to find a solution, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re considering this purchase.Despite this minor gripe, I have no regrets about buying the AD600 Pro II. It delivers professional-level results and is a solid upgrade for anyone looking to take their lighting setup to the next level. If you’re debating whether to add it to your kit, I’d say go for it—it’s worth every penny and has quickly become an essential part of my photography arsenal.

Battery Won’t Eject! Button Breaks!
Battery Won’t Eject! BEWARE! After one use, the battery eject button broke and the battery will not eject. Ruined a very important shoot. I found out this is a very COMMON PROBLEM with the AD300 Pro. DO NOT buy if quality and dependability are important to you. Cheap parts. I am a professional photographer and I have other Godox gear that works very well. This flash is just poorly designed and definitely NOT worth $499. Sadly, this is my opinion after buying and trying this flash in a professional environment.
