Celestron LandScout 12-36X60mm Spotting Scope with Basic Smartphone Adapter

Bought this scope as aspotter for 50m Small bore rifle competition and I am totally satisfied with the performance. Served the purpose perfectly.

Really a nice scope. The only difficulty I faced was the absence of locking mechanism for panning movement of tripod. The rest was all smooth enough. Can be easily carried on backpacking trip and trekking

The Celestron Landscout is amazing value for money. It has the magnification of more expensive models and comes with a handy table tri-pod and carry bag. Very light weight and portable. I am very happy with this product.

I wasn't sure if I should spend more money on a better scope, but seeing as I already own two better telescopes, I was only looking for something quick and portable to bring with me when travelling or camping. I'm actually very impressed with this scope. At 12x it's sharp and bright, at 24x it's still quite usable, and even at 36x the image looks fine in daylight albeit considerably darker (maybe not suitable for use at dusk and dawn). The eye relief is decent, so you can use it with glasses on or off. Unfortunately, the longer eye relieve makes it harder (not impossible) to put a digital camera or cellphone up to the eye piece. To get the full field of view, the camera needs to be 8 - 12 mm from the eye piece. The scope is pretty lightweight and portable, looks great, and actually has a number of nice features including a rotating body and recessed lens (built in lens shade). I wasn't expecting much from the included tripod, but it's really not bad (although a better camera tripod is recommended). The legs are metal, the mechanism is just smooth enough where it's not a chore to use, and everything feels pretty stable. Now for the negatives. It's an entry level scope using regular coated optics, a BK7 prism, and has a pretty narrow field of view. There's some chromatic aberrations visible and 36x is asking a lot from the small optics. Bottom line, better scopes cost much more money. For that, you'd get fully multi coated optics, BAK4 prism, more durable body construction (aluminium, carbon fiber, nitrogen purged, etc...), larger front lens for more light gathering, wider field of view, higher magnification, less chromatic aberrations. Truth be told, for the occasional use I wanted this for, I couldn't justify paying more and I'm actually very impressed by how good and usable it is. If you're going to use a spotting scope a lot and have some extra money, by all means, invest in something better. If you're looking for a good small scope that won't break the bank, this is a truly great value option.

I bought this through Amazon Warehouse. As far as I could tell, the item was condition match the description. There were some scuffs to the body but no issues that would affect the optics. I bought this mainly for archery. I shoot up to 60 meters at the moment. For that range, this scope is perfect. The optics are clear enough for that distance and very bright. I'm able to see arrows easily. The design worked great for my purposes. Its easy to change the angle of the eyepiece and focusing. It mounted easily to my photography tripod and is lightweight. Easy to take to the range and back. I can store the scope in its bag and in my backpack. It adds a little weight but barely noticeable. As a first time scope user, I'm glad I went this route because it met all my needs without being a significant purchase. If there are versions on Amazon Warehouse., its definitely worth the purchase.
