Good, there is none. Independent zones, full coverage, fabulous. I use L (1) for torso and 2 for feet that I have bumped up to 3 at times. Time of operation (auto shut off) is nice since it's adjustable not fixed. Clicking buttons and controller light are easy to adapt to. Consider them accessibility aides for those who need glasses and need the feedback by feel. I'm so glad I replaced my Sunbeam that had very spotty heat areas. The plugs at the feet don't bother me at all. This princess doesn't mind the pea. It needs two electrical plugs, but I use a properly rated power strip. Review: Would recommend! - Works great so far! Amazing for the winter time or just when your feet get chilly. You can just turn that section on. Which I wouldn't buy one in the future without the 4 zones. Love being able to just turn the foot section on and not have all of it on to roast me.

Amazing warming with one big issue
I've never been so angry with such an amazing item in my life, let me explain. This heated mattress pad with 4 zones is exactly what my wife and I were looking for. My feet get chilly at night and my wife's whole body morphs into an ice cube after the sun sets. Having 4 zones is great because I have just my feet area turned on while my wife has both of her zones turned to different levels. To clarify my side has the upper part kept at 0 and my feet at 2, my wife keeps hers at 3 up top and 5 at the bottom. When we first got it we turned all zones up to 9 to see what it was like ..it was like a sauna under the blankets, not burn you hot , just really really warm. You can't feel the internal warming wires when you're laying down either, somehow it's made our mattress more comfortable. So if I rated this only on the warming I'd give it 7 stars, it's that good. Now the bad part...the plugs are a good couple of inches up where you're feet go and while they're the size of a deck of playing cards, it's really an awful placement. I'm positive their positions were determined to save the company 62ยข in manufacturing cost but it makes me exceedingly angry every night. Seriously, why couldn't they have gone at the vertical base where I'd never feel them? Or the corners instead of the middle of each half? Both myself (tall guy) and my wife (shorter woman) feel them every single night, it's infuriating! And yes, I've thought about flipping things around so the plugs are up top but then they'd be under our pillows and I know I'd feel them there and it would be WORSE, not to mention having to remember the zones are swapped. If the heating part is 7/5 stars the cord placement is -1/5 stars meaning overall this is a 4 star item.

get this one
I have gone through 3 electric mattress pads this winter. All had 2 separate zones. One (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0088AHL1K?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_7&th=1) had a wireless remote, which I thought was great, but only one remote. So, if i turned it on and put it on my nightstand, my spouse would have to crawl over me to change his settings. It would have worked if we had a headboard where the remote could be stored between us, but we don't. Then I got one with two separate (wired) remotes. but it just didn't give us much heat at our feet. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CKWQMHZT?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2&th=1 This one works great. I don't like that it has two wall plugs. You should't use an extension cord with these, but I had no choice. It provides good heat, has zones for the head and feet, and a shut-off timer. Everything I need. I should have gotten this sooner.

A Mixed Bag
Buckle up, this middle aged man has some opinions on this heated mattress pad... The mattress pad does some nice things, but also leaves a lot of room for improvement. Pros - Heats up very fast - Zoned control on each side of the bed - Easy to use controls for each side of the bed - Decent price for a name brand - The auto-off timer is nice Cons - The heat is not even within zones - The lower zone goes too far up the bed - The low setting is too hot - The buttons are very loud when clicking them - The controllers stay lit very bright when the mattress pad is on - It requires each side of the pad to be plugged in separately My old mattress pad was made by Sunbeam and had 3 zone control on both sides of the bed. I bought it twice b/c the first one eventually stopped working and both times I bought it, it was the only option for zoned controls on both sides of the bed. That mattress pad was great except for one fatal flaw... there was only one controller for it. The controller was wireless (which was nice) and allowed you to control both sides of the bed, but if one person wanted to change their settings and the controller wasn't on their side of the bed, it was a hassle. Fortunately this mattress pad does not have that issue, but it does have several others... The biggest issue is the way the lower zone heats; it is not even and heats the middle and upper parts of the zone much more than the lower section meaning that for a lot of people (I am 5'10"), they won't get enough heat to their feet without having to turn it to a higher setting and likely having too much heat on the rest of their legs and backside. It's so noticeably different that I thought there wasn't any heat at all where my feet were, but I checked it with my hand to confirm there is heat, but it is much less than the rest of the zone. This is frustrating as the main reason I like a heated mattress pad is for my feet. In fact, other non-zoned mattress pads I have used concentrate more wires in the foot area so that it is warmer than the rest of the pad - it's very odd that this one has less heat there. The uneven heat issue is compounded by how warm the pad is even on it's lowest setting. I can't imagine anyone using this on 10 as even 1 is usually too warm despite us keeping our room cold and not having any issues with our previous pad. Further compounding the issue is how far the lower zone comes up the bed. I am 5'10" and the lower zone heats my backside, but I don't want the same amount of heat on my butt (assuming it heated evenly) as I do on my feet. I much rather the zones be split as roughly above and below the knees (I understand people are different heights, but unless you are incredibly short, the current coverage of the lower zone comes up way too far). My other quibbles are much more minor, but the controller could definitely use some improvements. - Each controller must be plugged into the wall outlet separately (and not into an extension cord according to the manual) meaning that you likely can't use that outlet for anything else. - A previous reviewer mentioned the buttons being loud when you clicked them and I thought they must have been being extremely picky, but after waking up my partner this morning when I changed the setting, I can confirm that the buttons are extremely loud. - Lastly, the controller is very bright for some reason and stays lit up w/o dimming while the pad is on. They could have gotten away with a much less bright LCD screen and/or dimming or turning the screen off shortly after adjustments were made. Conclusion This mattress pad is so close to being good, but they made some odd decisions that make it lacking. Like a dummy I threw away the box after putting it on the bed and confirming it works so we going to go at least one year with its shortcomings, but if you haven't bought yet I would suggest looking at another option.
