My cat is OBSESSED
I have two cats, and I got one for each of them. One, wouldn't touch it (she has longer fur and weighs more, so she's already warm). The other (who is thinner and has shorter fur), absolutely obsessed, even in summer.I gave away the first one for someone's small dog, but the one I kept has held up for a couple years and my cat is still found on it pretty much every day. I have to unplug it some days because she'll sleep on it even during a heat wave - she seriously spends hours every day on it. Sometimes she pulls her actual bed over and uses it as a pillow while she's on her heat mat. She's so upset when I have to unplug it after she has surgery/a dental cleaning (because I can't trust her to be able to get up if she gets too warm when she's on anesthesia and pain meds), but the first day I DO turn it on, once she's off her meds, she spends the entire day on it.I'm really happy she has something to keep her warm in our Michigan winter, because she is alone at night and I used to worry about if she got too cold... now I only have to worry if the power goes out.The cord is really thick and sturdy. My cat has like two teeth, so she can't chew on cords anyway, so I have no idea how sturdy it is for cats who do like to chew. My other cat is a cord chewer, but she never used hers - and they live sepatately for medical reasons, so my other cat has no access to this one.The orange fabric cover comes off, so it should wash pretty well. So far I haven't had to wash it (though I do use a lint brush on it from time to time to remove hair), so I haven't taken the cover all the way off and can't comment on how the cover holds up in the wash.. but it has held up since I got it in Feb of 2020.So the big con (which I knew about when ordering so I'm not taking stars off for this) - mainly the temperature control, which is.... pretty much none. It's meant to be controlled by weight, so when she's not on it it's not really warm, and then it heats up when she's on it. I like that it doesn't stay constantly warm, but it would be nice to have some kind of control. The other thing is, it IS just a mat. There's absolutely no padding, and I think she would probably prefer if it was a bit softer/padded... but since it's on an old couch (nobody uses it except her anyway), it's not a big deal.I think there's probably better ones out there if you have a bigger budget, but this is a really decent heat mat and my cat is in love with it. Considering it has a 50/50 success rate with my cats (in terms of liking it), I think it's a good option to get if you're not sure if your cat or dog would like a heat mat. But if you DO know they like them, it may be worth it to spend a little more if you can afford it.I originally got them for $20 each, the 12x15 size. The size is perfect for her, she CAN curl up on it but she often likes to spread out and spin around occasionally so that all of her gets warm, which she would have to do regardless of size.Overall, yes I would buy it again, but I'd probably try to find one that's a little nicer (heat control and padding) first if it was in my budget.I would DEFINITELY get these if I was fostering several cats or had messy cats that may need it to be cleaned frequently, since cleaning does seem to be really easy with this one.

Perfect for my cat.
My little 8 pound Birman female cat loves this heater. From the day I plugged it in 2 months ago through now, the end of January, she is on this unit for about half of the night and half of the daytime as well. My other cat, is a large, long male who has a very thick, short coat, has never used it. The heat is barely perceivable by my hand touch, but is perfect for animals. The cord is something no animal could bite through and they’ve never made any attempt anyway. No complaints, would absolutely recommend.

Fits perfectly in the K&H Kitty House
I have a heated cat house in the garage and an unheated cat house in our family room. Our cat is indoor only and sleeps in the garage at night (by her choice). Now that temperatures have dropped she asks to be let into the garage during the day. We keep our thermostat at 69 degrees and apparently she would rather be in her heated house in the cold garage. I bought this heating pad for the "indoor" cat house and it fits perfectly! It was far less expensive than the the same brand as the "Kitty house" heating pad. I am so happy with this purchase! It was hard to find this exact size. The cord looks very sturdy. Highly recommend!

Just what I wanted
I used this in a cat bed and they love it. I like the fact it stays on continually, but it is very low heat. No need to monitor the heat or adjust it. No timer to fool with. I have pads and both cats enjoy them.

He actually uses it!
UPDATE: Its been over a year since my review, and the pad is still going strong, and is still one of his favorite spots to be! God help us if it gives out, I think I may buy a spare, just in case, I dread what would happen! I think it's probably his favorite thing that I've ever bought him.Original review: Our cat, like many cats, usually will reject things we buy him in favor of the box it came in. This winter, though, we noticed he was often upset, crying to us for reasons that weren't obvious - it wasn't food, water, petting.. none of the usual things he wanted. Eventually, I wondered if maybe, since he's getting older, he might be feeling a bit achy when it got chillier or rainier. I thought maybe, if he had something warm to curl up with, he might feel better, but I worried he wouldn't ever use it.After searching around here on Amazon through various versions of these pet heating pads, I eventually settled on this one, and when we got it home, I set it up in the corner of the living room he's claimed as his. I'll admit, I totally cheated that first day. I got out his favorite 'calming blend' catnip and sprinkled it on the pad so he'd at least TRY getting on it. That did get him to set foot on it, at least. It took about twenty four hours for him to give in. Maybe less. Apparently the lure of this Magical Warm Spot was sufficient to override the natural desire to avoid showing any interest in something bought for him. He's on it all the time now! It's become one of his default favorite spots to nap. He likes it to the point where if he walks over it, he often seems to forget where he was actually headed and just sort of stop there, looking at first as though he's intending to keep going, but this quickly turns into simply sitting on the pad instead. Whatever else he had on the agenda is rarely as important as the Warm Spot once he's felt it again. There's no more mystery crying and distress (we are back to the usual demands again) and he's even more playful again, so I suspect he was, in fact, just feeling those very relatable aches when your joints aren't as young as they used to be. He's much happier, we are much relieved that he's more comfortable, and all in all, it's been one of the best purchases I've made in a while.A quick note on cleaning: the cover zips right off and it's washable. The fur also vaccuumed off of it surprisingly easily for something with a fuzzy texture. It's also nicely waterproof... He tested that when he drank a bunch of water and then decided he had to get a hairball out. I'd say that was a decent test of how cleanable the pad is. It doesn't seem any worse for wear.I rarely say 'just buy it' for a review. But honestly, if our cat accepts it, and it hasn't given us any problems in months, it has to be on the short list of purchases I have absolutely no regret over. He loves it, he feels better, he actually uses it, it didn't cost much at all. I don't know how much more one could ask for.

cat loves it
We bought this for our outside cat, it arrived fast and it took him a day before he discovered it and now he stays in his house all the time!!! We wished it had a temperature control on it instead of just a plug in.

Good quality & perfect heat with no fuss
This product is great. Took it out of the box plugged it in few minutes later Kobe the cat claimed it. But too bad for Kobe I bought this for our feral cat that I have been looking after, temperature going to drop to -18 tomorrow. It’s perfect size for small- med or fat cat fits whole body my current heating pad is small and uncomfortable. I also like it seems to give just perfect amount of heat (not too hot or not hot enough). I am happy & Hobo I am sure will approve it too.

Great heating pad, perfect for neonatal kittens and expectant mamas
I foster regularly and need a heat source for the neonatal kittens who can't regulate their temperature.I have also used this for expectant mama kitties and my Mom's very senior pup.It has a gentle warmth (don't put too much bedding on top), but just enough to provide comfort and warmth.Chew proof cord is essential! As well as the machine washable cover. May need to get another!

May need time to adjust to the Mat.
Unfortunately my cats have not used these beds yet. I am not entirely surprised, as there are bulky hard pieces poking out on the mat. Unavoidable. It would be like a human laying on a mattress with a huge battery pack poking into your spine. I will keep trying and will refrain from leaving a bad review, as my cats may eventually use them.

She loves it.
My old girl loves it. Wrapped in in a thin blanket to keep it clean and have it laying under her little igloo bed out in the shop. She spends all day in it. Takes a little while for heat to get thru but then it's good. Only thing I wish it had was a switch so it didn't have to be unplugged everytime

Very pleased with these bed warmers!
I have purchased three of these bed warmers for our collection of elderly cats. They are enjoying a much more comfortable winter this year. Our oldest cat is sleeping more soundly and moving a bit less gingerly. All three units have been trouble free so far and have provided a controlled gentle heat.
