desertcart.com: Akira 5: 9781935429074: Katsuhiro Otomo: Books Review: THE FINAL BATTLE IS IN SITE! - Well, here we are: One issue away from the last issue. This is quiet possible the best one in the serias so far. Number 5 is almost completely dedicated to character development. I say "almost" because the issue is bassically our heroes preparing themselves for the final battle and tying up loose ends. The renioun between Kaneada and Kie in the beginning of the issue is heart warming; I especially liked how Kiesuke got in there!:) Truth be told, there isn't as much action as there was in the others, but who cares? With phenomual character development and story telling, this issue kicks! And Besides, there is a completely PERFECT action sequence early on, which is done very very very VERY well. (For those curious, it involves Kie and the Colonol taking on a bunch of the empire's gun crazy citizens led by the guy in the glasses (I knew he'd come back!) Kaneada and Kiesuke also come in the knick of time on motorcycles) Another maine character is reintroduced here, and I like him. Remember Joker, the huge and tough looking leader of the Clown gang? When we last saw him in Number One, it looked like he was a goner: after all, a motorcycle tire smashed into his face. But suddenly, he pops up in this one, with a huge tire mark on his face! (I nearly busted a gut when I saw that.) Joker, as said before, is a technical whiz, providing Kaneada and his sidekick Kiesuke with TONS of guns, motorcylces, and equipment. Many chuckles occur when Kaneada and Joker CONSTANTLY argue, often stopping at words and using their fists instead, and poor Kiesuke tries to be the mediator between the two. Also back for laughs is that nicotine-addicted-doctor, who can basically do anything but will only do it if you get him a ciggarrette ("Do this, Do that! THEN WHAT?And I can't even get a... cigarrette!") A deleightful issue. I still think that the fight sequence between Kie and Tetuo (GREAT effect with the fighter pilot dangling out of the jet like he was being cruicified) could've been done a tiny bit better. I mean, I liked how the frantic admiral was in the background, ordering his men to "FIR EVERYTHING WE'VE GOT!" at them, but I wish it had been a little longer. But, it WAS choregraphed nicely, and I still love it, but I just wish it had been a tiny bit longer. All in all, a great set-up to the final battle. Bravo, Katsuhiro Otomo! Well done! Review: Perfect collection! - First off, Akira was one of the first few animes I've ever watched (Hokuto no Ken being one of my top tier favorites) and it's without a doubt a true classic. Secondly, I knew the manga would show at the minimum 50% more than what the original video animation showed and I was VERY satisfied with the original story development and conclusion. Finally, I bought all 6 volumes and it was one of the best purchases I've ever made online. I highly recommended that you own this very unique and awesome manga collection that's easily a top 10 of all time in my opinion. And also, in my opinion, nothing beats Berserk as far as Seinen manga is concerned ;).

If you only read one Manga Akira is THE one to go for. All six volumes are awesome. The amazing detail, flawed characters, the sense of movement in the action and the frankly HUGE story. The anime is a masterpiece but only really scratches the surface really. All six volumes are to be devoured then reread annually! I always get something out of each revisit whether it's just flicking through or reading properly. Otomo is a true auteur. Love it!

Akira still remains one of the best cyberpunk media to ever exist. No doubt in that since it's popularity is still high after all these years. The manga came in great condition and is quite big in my opinion. It measures 25.5 cm in length and 17.5 cm in width, bigger than a standard manga. Might be a little hard to carry around but you should go for it.

Es original pero de segunda mano, no venía empaquetado ni protegido, llego en mal estado con incluso machas de algo que podría ser comida, si no les importa el estado de sus paquetes, compren

This is a great story and the art is very good. I really enjoyed this series when I was younger and it still captured my attention as an older person. I have all of the books from Marvel/epic comics which are colorized. I bought these big books for the nostalgia of the comic and I wanted to see it in black and white and if it was a direct port of the Japanese versions but alas it is still the same mirrored version that Marvel/epic put out in the late 1980s just black and white. The mirrored version has all the drawn panels reversed meaning that characters are holding weapons in their right hand or other items which is somewhat annoying as every one in this story is left handed, that’s also a mistake in my own opinion by the artist/author Katsuhiro Otomo, I’m also not a fan of the black and white as it is hard to truly get a feel of the visualization of this book. Marvel/epic deserve praise for doing a great job colorizing it way back when and it’s very beautiful to read it that way because you actually see the finest details of the drawings. The volume format is beautiful to hold with a smooth hard poster type cover. All in all this is a great book to have.
