UJ Ramelson Co Webbing Stretcher #255 - Maple Wood, Brown, 8" x 3.25" - Upholstery Tool

My old weapons stretcher broke. My daughter was refurbishing a chair. I bought a new one. Showed her how to re-web a chair. Worked as advertised.

Saved the day.

I was being cheap because I'm just doing 1 couch so I didn't buy the gooseneck one. Do yourself a favor and watch some videos.It's the perfect size for the webbing. It's VERY sharp but doesn't rip the webbing.It doesn't work well around curves or where there isn't a wide area to brace to. The rubber mostly keeps it from slipping.

The teeth are very sharp and puncture the webbing easily, the rubber bumper is ribbed and I didn't have any real problem with the tool slipping. The body of the tool is a stout piece of maple (?). Once I figured out the technique, I could push down with my left hand and use my right with the tack hammer without any problem. Only complaint was that there were no instructions, but it is such a specialized tool the manufacturer seems to assume you know how to use it.Took a little bit of experimentation to figure out how to use the tool. Watching a couple of videos on You-tube helped; you cantilever the tool about 22-1/2 degrees above the horizontal, butt the rubber end against the furniture frame, get a bite on the webbing with the teeth, and then push down to stretch the webbing. The tool is actually easy to use once you know how.

I found this to be very helpful and very sturdy

I used this to stretch the jute webbing on the base of an antique rocker I'm upholstering. I have never worked with jute webbing before and found this tool simple to use. I was able to stretch the webbing to a very tight pull and tack it. I did the majority of the job myself.
