Installation instructions - plug version
The instructions are incorrect- if you wire as directed, you will cause a short and flip your braker. Here are correct instructions (pictures should be in order)1. Lay everything out and gather your tools. You will need a philips screwdriver, a drill, a 9/32 bit (if installing into drywall), an adjustable wrench (optional), and if you like a tiny drill bit (also not required)2. Remove the two screws from the side of the cover(round with switch) and remove the mounting plate from inside. Keep these screws safe, you will need them later3. Take the nut/lock washer/groundwire/washer combo off the bulb stem. Thread the bulb stem through the center hole on the cover and reinstall the nut stack on the inside. Line the bulb housing up with the bottom of the cover (likely switch knob on the bottom) and hand tighten the stack.4. Feed the plug wire up the the hole in the bottom of the cover and feed the wire through the plastic figure 8 piece so it doesn't fall back through the hole. If you are missing one of the pieces (like I was) you can cut a little bit of the outer housing and tie the wires in a knot (see photo)5. Twist the wires together per the wire diagram in the photo. Bulb white to 1 switch wire, plug white to the other switch wire, black bulb wire to black plug wire6. Add caps to each twisted wire pair7. Locate where you want the sconce mounted and mark your fastener locations on the wall8. Predrill your screw holes. I like to use a smaller than the screw dill bit first to drill in those locations instead of using a studfinder. If it's all drywall, use the 9/32 bit to drill a hole and insert your fldrywall anchors. You will have to hammer/tap them in the last half inch.9. Loosen the blue screw and install your mounting plate with the tabs facing toward you. Screw the screws in most of the way before worrying about leveling. You can prop a level on the tabs or just eye-ball it10. Put those little cover screws you removed earlier and the philips screwdriver in your pocket. Wrap the copper wire around the blue grounding screw and hand tighten with the screwdriver.11. Place the cover over the mounting plate and line up the holes on the side. Attach on the sides using the small screws from your pocket12. Unscrew the lampshade holder piece, add the metal lampshade, and reinstall the holder piece (no photo)13. Add a bulb, plug in, switch on, and enjoy!

Small for a night stand
Not big enough for a living room, more for a Night stand or small table

Great Lights for Farmhouse Look!
Theses lights look great and are pretty easy to install. Whether you hard wire them or plug them you have to connect the wiring within the lamp using the wire nights and wiring diagram. If you are not familiar or comfortable with wiring it is strongly suggested that you have a professional or someone familiar with wiring install. It’s not hard but needs to be done right. Other than that the lights are great quality and O would definitely recommend. Note, the Edison bulbs are not included but I recommend getting some as they add more character to the fixture.

Great value and a very attractive light!
I bought these lights to wall mount next to my headboard to save space on the nightstands, plus I figured they would look nice. I used the included power cord and did not hard wire them at this time. If you plan to hardwire, just keep in mind that they don’t come with a plug to fill the hole in the base. They look great and the finish matches the pictures in my opinion. I like that you can change the angle, but I fixed mine in a downcast position and will leave them that way. The angle is locked into position with a thumbscrew and teethed wheels, but mine were such that they did not have a tooth that aligned them perfectly down, so they are very slightly angled towards the wall. This was the case with both and did not appear to be a defect in one.My wife complained that her switch had to be turned several times to toggle the light, but I was not able to repeat the issue and she hasn’t mentioned it since. I’m assuming they may be touchy to how you put pressure on them when you reach for the switch. They do feel a little cheap, but expected for the cost of the light.Lastly, the extension rod is held to the base with a nut and lock washer that is an unusual angle to tight significantly, so it is likely that the light will spin with pressure on that axis as well. These issues are all minor and I don’t think it deducts from the value of these inexpensive decorator lights, I simply included the info as an FYI for purchasers. Overall they were exactly what I was looking for, cheap, arrived quickly, and I have the option of hard wiring when I actually remodel my bedroom.

Fire Risk
These lamps were plugged into the wall at my house and relatively easy to install after I figured out the instructions and which parts I didn’t need for a simple plug-in use.Big drawback: Fire risk. They rotate easily, though they are tight enough to hold in either an up or down direction for light. I used them above my bed and occasionally rotate them to get a different level of light. (I had thought these lights were dimmable, but you must hard wire them and have a dimmer switch in the wall for that.) I didn’t realize that as I rotated the light I was wrapping the interior wires around themselves, eventually leading to breakage of the insulation and exposed wire. A wire inside broke in half and caused a spark, but didn’t shut the power to the bulb off. I noticed the spark and immediately unplugged the light. I gave it a little time before I took it off the wall (hoping to avoid giving it oxygen if it was still smoldering) and then found the broken wire as well as several burn marks on the interior wires and connections. Be careful and don’t mess with this light once it’s up!

The switch didn’t work for me
The lamp is really cute but during the install I found that the on/off knob doesn’t work properly. A cute non functioning lamp isn’t really that valuable since it doesn’t work.

Assembly Instructions are Not the Best
These lamps are worth the work, but you will work for them. The assembly instructions are not very helpful. I purchased these with the intent of using them as plug-in, not hard-wired. They're great because you have the option to do either! The instructions are written for plug-in assembly, but again, they weren't very clear. I had to get help with the wiring part of the assembly because I had loose wires without anything to connect them to. Once we got them assembled and wired, they look great.
