Hard to get the two parts of the metal in correct place
I drove the metal into the dirt with no problem. But beware the sharp edges. WEAR GLOVES. Then I put the wood post over the metal per instructions. But the ground did not offer enough resistance so pounding the post onto the metal drove the metal farther into the ground. The result is that the post is not as well anchored as it should be because the metal did not go far enough into it. Overall, good product but in soft ground I would recommend putting the metal into the post FIRST and then installing into the ground as a unit.

Good value
Installed in the ditch in front of my home. Ditch slopes quickly from the road. I wish the stake that goes in the ground were longer to make it a sturdier installation.

assembly required
I bought this because I did not want to "dig a post hole". My old mailbox was over 25 yrs. old, and was falling apart.. The soil where I live is VERY rocky, and hard to dig (and I'm 65). I went to Lowe's and Home Depot, and, to my surprise, neither really had a mailbox that did not require digging. This one said it needed to be assembled (the post), but it was very easy. I drove the post 16" deep with a sledge hammer, but it took less than 1 minute. Also, putting the post onto the stake required a sledge hammer, but the hole was pre-drilled, so it was easy. The hardware was included, and the holes were predrilled, so only a phillips head screw driver was required. Attaching the mailbox (not included), was more work, but not difficult. It is good to go for 25 more years !!

Does the job
Wish the spike was longer for more steadiness but does the job

Good for the money.
For the money I think I got what I paid for. It is super easy to install and looks nice once done. The only issue I had was the included board that you mount the mailbox to was much thinner than the Large mailbox I bought to sit on top. I carefully screwed the box on and then added two screws on the inside of the box to reinforce it. It seems sturdy enough but only time will tell. I don't think the post will ever be the issue and it would be the mounting board that will be the weak link. However with a regular size mailbox I bet this would not be the case.My post seemed very fresh and was not dry or cracked. I actually really enjoyed having it sit in my living room the few days before I had a chance to install it as the cedar smells great.Update: 5-3-20Post is great. I've had to do nothing to it and it's still in good condition and looks nice. The mailbox has stayed on fine and I would buy this again if/when needed.

For the price & easa ... a value BUT not Quality materials, some will rot
Less than an hour, TWO were installed and made more sturdi by using the soon-to-rot boards to screw posts together.(The boards used under the mailbox = only for smaller boxes UGH)I used better lumber for this and the Large boxes BTWCedar will also rot and this cedar smells great but less than #3 grade ... is there a #4?Rustic/rural settings wouldn't mind such rough cuts, perhaps.Screw heads shear off and if they are treated against corrosion, they certainly bear no resemblance to deck screws, so buy/use the latter.I feel the metal stakes are just OK, could be deeper and upwards longer to mitigate these reviews this seems not so stable ... guess what poor weather and time will do with this ... (not better). Worse issue is that once you get the stakes perfect side by side for two posts, they drilled the post holes off center, thus the posts never line up like the stakes in ground do. DUH? Another example of poor execution of a very smart design. That said, the project is over with in hot Texas sun and if everything were perfect, the price might be x2 or even x3 considering what redwood/cypress costs these days ... not to mention teak and other no rot woods.

Great addition to the matching mailbox..
Great addition to complete the matching birdhouse mailbox we ordered. Took DH a few minutes to work out the details, but we are old and slow sometimes (especially if I tell him I'm busy, you have to do it). :-)~Ours was a good solid product, as described and easy to put together (just follow directions).~ it looks awesome with the matching birdhouse mailbox.~Seems to be good construction for the price, and easy enough to construct~Allow 30-45 min. to fit to mailbox and erect~Be sure to have a couple small needed toolsCan not attest to "long term" endurance of this product, as we have only used it for a couple months now, but we are very happy and love the whole set up.We did paint with one coat of Thompson's Waterseal to add extra life.

Comes with split in it.
When the first one came in it had a split down the side, had another one sent out which also had a split. When you try to hammer it on the stake the split just gets bigger. Once the second was finally put in it isnβt sturdy at all.
