Wow!
Bought this instead of a $99 quick shade tent because they get broken so easily. Great decision. I can set this thing up on the beach in 10 minutes by myself. Otentik should have given this too me for free because I bet I sold 25 of these this week alone. I see why they incluse business cards in the box. Almost every person that passed it took a picture and asked me about it. Super happy with it.Things I learned after my first attempt to use this product.1. Stretch this thing well past what you think is normal. The first time I was afraid it was going to rip. It wont. Trust me.2. Stuff the sand bags super full. They stretch too.3. Keep the poles close to the corners.

Great fishin' shack!
I finally got to try out my new Otentik Sunshade today, and I was really happy with it. It was easy to set up, and provided nice cool shade on a hot, humid Florida beach day. I love the cool breeze unimpeded, while keeping the beating sun off.I bought the medium size, and I actually went to the store in Leland Fl. As an aside, if you live close enough, it is definitely worth the trip. Leland is a beautiful little town, and a tourist destination with lots of interesting shops and restaurants... but I digress. Renee and her husband really did a great job explaining everything about the shade from manufacture to setup. They are great people with a great small business, and I hope they do well. I felt very comfortable buying this product after seeing the materials, and realizing how seriously they take customer service.I have a few observations to make after actually using it.1.) It has no problem staying up in a breeze. The key is really stretching it out, putting lots of sand in the bags, and facing the wind. Bury the bags if the wind is strong. If you can't get it to stay up in the wind, it isn't the shades fault!2.) I found the perfect shovel to fill the bags: a clear plastic food service ice scoop from the local restaurant store for $6.00. Sturdy, light, easy to use, and pretty cool looking (see pix). This would be a nice item to offer on the site as an add on.3.) Someone mentioned in a review that it was hard to get the poles into the bag with the shade. The poles now come in their own little bag which is very slick, and slides right into the bag with the shade, no problem.4. In all fairness, I have few criticisms. One is that the poles are made of steel, not aluminum. They are coated to last longer, but they are heavier than aluminum and will eventually rust. I would like to see them offer aircraft grade poles as an upgrade. I will pay extra for them.Another is that the ropes are pretty short, and I would have a hard time burying the front bags without pushing the poles far into the sand, which would leave less space under the shade. In other people's pix they look longer than mine.My last criticism is that there is a big seam running the length of the shade, and it's not in the middle. It looks like it was the end of the roll of cloth, so they just stitched on a new roll and kept going. This detracts from the smooth flowing appearance of the shade to a degree. I'm sure this saves some money in manufacturing, but I don't like being the one who got "shorted". I didn't see this until I set it up.These criticisms would not stop me from buying again. Overall, I think it is much better than other competing products out there.

BOOM! Great Sun Shade - Beach shelter!!
Took our new Otentik SunShade (family size) to the Outer Banks of NC for it's trial run and couldn't be happier. Lightweight, compact, easy to set up and, most importantly, IT WORKS! Watched the YouTube tip vids in advance and it was a breeze, literally. Even my 10 year old knew what to do. The family/largest size easily allowed 6 people to sit under it. Didn't get to test it yet in high sustained winds, which is unusual for OBX, but the gusts we encountered were no problem. In fact, there was almost not enough wind at times, which while making the shaded area a little harder to get under didn't deter our fun. A couple onservations... We went with the light turquoise color and I wonder if going darker would block out even more UV rays. Still use sunscreen, even if you're going to stay in the shade the whole time. First day out I purposely didn't wear anything, knowing I'd be under the shade the entire time and while I didn't get burned, I did get a few pink spots and you could create a shadow in the shade which made me wonder about the darker color. Anyway, we received several questions about who make it and where we got it. All in all a wonderful product.UPDATE : found our high winds yesterday at Hatteras National Seashore. Probably 20+ mph sustained. Stretched the shelter tighter and dug in the sand bags a little and it worked great! Even better than in the low winds as it was constantly billowing to full size and height. You could walk under the entire shelter. Excellent product!!

Wrap the Pole Heads and Bury the Bags!
I rent out my Florida Gulfcoast beach house to weekly renters and provide a beach canopy for their use. I am constantly replacing these canopies either due to high wind damage or rusting steel parts. I just bought the Otentik sunshade and tried it out in high wind yesterday. First of all, I was able to carry it under my arm and hold a shovel in the other hand (this is good and bad as I think that it will 'walk' away in someone's carry on!). Anyway, just as everyone else says here, it was easy to set up, and it held up with no problem in very heavy wind. In my view, the two most critical actions are 1) burying the bags, and 2) wrapping fabric around the ball at the top of the pole to keep it from slipping (until I remembered the instructions recommending this, my poles kept slipping and fell down repeatedly). In fact, instead of using the pole bags to wrap the ball, I just used the corner of the shade and stretched it to wrap around the ball just once as the tension of the rope kept it nice and tight. Two things I worry about, in addition to its 'walk away' attraction, is the poles rusting out and someone poking a hole in the fabric. We'll see how it survives a full rental season. But, it does look to be the best solution so far!!

Perfect for shade on the beach
It was perfect for the beach. Set up was very easy. Very sturdy with the wind from the ocean. I'm glad we bought the large. We had 4 people under it with plenty of room.

Loved them so much, we got two!
Talk about way easier than a frame canopy! Very lightweight and portable. Held up nicely in steady winds. I used an ice scoop to quickly fill the bags. Made it a lot faster!

It really works in strong beach winds!
I was skeptical at first but this tent is amazing. It held up in very strong wind. I kept thinking it was going to fly away but it held up beautifully.

Love it! But I can't pronounce Otentik.
After 25 years of numerous tents, shades, canopies, etc. on the beach, this Otentik is a great solution.

Otentik Sunshade
I used this at the beach for the first time recently and was very impressed. The large size is very compact, as in not even as big as a fold up camp chair, so couldn't be easier...
