Excellent well rounded work books and lesson books
My kids have been in piano lessons for a collective 8 years and all used Alfred lesson books and notespeller books. Match them together for a complete learning experience. A Notespeller lesson matches with a piano lesson in the matching lesson book. They're broken down and explained well. Multiple lesson grade levels. Would recommend.

Alfred Method is great for beginner students . . . and teachers!
I would call myself a beginner piano teacher, as I play the piano myself but have had no instruction as to how to teach others to play. I now have four beginner students, whom I have been teaching for a little over a year. I love the Alfred method. The four books: technic, lesson, solo/recital, and theory all seem to really work well together. The songs coordinate with each other, so for each new concept taught in the lesson books, the student has a warm-up, a solo piece, and some theory work to back it up. I find this to be very effective. It gives the students a chance to see several examples of each concept, and practice each new concept in different ways until they achieve perfection with it. It also really walks the teacher through each concept very clearly, giving definitions for musical terms and clear instructions for which songs go together. I feel like the order in which concepts are taught also makes a lot of sense. Overall, it's a good method for a teacher who doesn't know a whole lot about HOW to teach another person to play the piano! I currently have some of my students on this level, and others on the regular beginner levels. I love how all of the different levels are interchangeable, so gifted students can advance more quickly, and students who need a little extra reinforcement can stay on the lower levels. The map for how this all works is on the back of all of the books, which you can see on the book preview. So many great things about Alfred!

Effective yet not complicated.
I've been using these books with my students for years and still like the method. Works best when combined with same level theory and notespeller books.

Alfred books are great for young beginners!
The basic beginner books for the youngest children are the A, B, C, D, E, F, G books in the Preparatory Level. This is the B Book, or the second book for beginners. Level A, with its several books, provides more than enough introduction to the essential beginnings of music. I've started Pre-K students wanting to learn in Level A, and we could not be happier. We're moving to Level B this week!

Perfect series for beginners!
We love this series!! On to book level D already, but wanted to come back on here and let others know this is a wonderful introduction and series for learning piano. See pics for beginning, middle and end pages of Level B to see if this is the right level for you or your child!

Great for very young learner.
I like the fact that the books in each level such as Lesson, note spelling and solo move along with the same lesson plan. I especially like that it take an 8 yr old child slowly and constantly reaffirming each musical term and meaning.

Excelent book for teaching the piano
After 30 years of teaching piano, my wife knows a lot about piano books, and after using other books for several years, she moved to Alfred's books. She is delighted with the method of teaching in them. All her students buy this book once they have finished Book A and then through the range of books from Alfred. The images are clear, and the learning system is methodical and logical.
