Fantastic!
This Pop Up Fire Pit is great! Lightweight. Takes about 90 seconds to setup and less to take down. Burns nice dry hardwood split down to about calf-size light and bright and almost smokeless! I'm afraid its useless if you want to go to bed wreaking of dank, foul smoldery smoke all smudged with black ash. No way. But if you want a super portable "firebowl" that won't leave burn scars and heaps of black ash that sets up in less than 2 minutes and sit by a light and bright fire that throws nice warmth then this is what you're looking for. It's made of lightweight aluminum and the high tech screen that holds the burning wood allows excellent airflow up through the fire, which is why it burns so clean. Everything fit perfect and the heat shield that goes a few inches below the coal screen does an amazing job reflecting heat up and protecting whatever surface the fire pit is sitting on. I'm not sure I'd trust it on a deck without some larger coal/spark protection - but the small weeds growing under our first 3-hour fire didn't even droop or wilt. The company deserves special mention for service. When I disassembled the fire pit after our first fire I found that the stitching on one edge of the heat shield had missed and the folded edge of heat shield was pulling away from the body of the heat shield. It hadn't melted or been affected by the heat at all - it was just quality control - bad stitching. I contacted the seller and they immediately sent a new heat shield, no questions asked. I received it in 4 days. They responded to my email in less than 24 hours. This is not the right fire pit if you want to burn mouse-eaten, rain soaked sofa arms and water-logged swamp stumps. You can't just huck a 25 lb unsplit half-rotten waist-sized round into the thing from 10 feet away. It's not a burn pile/bonfire. It's a portable, clean burning, heat throwing firebowl that will provide beautiful firelight and warmth in exchange for the tiniest bit of care in firebuilding and feeding. I live in VT and we heat our house with two woodstoves. I've probably forgotten more about burning firewood than most people will ever know. Build a nice fire with decent wood and you and your friends and family will enjoy this fire bowl many nice evenings!

Excellent portable fire pit. My favorite.
I love this fire pit. I've used it only twice so far but each time it was a breeze to set up and take down, it held my fire just fine, and nothing melted. One thing I love about this pit is that it puts the fire up at a higher level so that you feel the warmth on your body instead of just your feet and knees. My family has a lot of campfires and have tried many different fire pit arrangements. What I noticed about the pop up pit is that because of its height we could have a smaller fire and it still kept us warm. A fire of the same size on the ground would not have been even close to adequate - juat frustrating. The pit seems like it can hold plenty of weight to have a big fire. I havent tested this yet, but will. The pit cooled down almost immediately after the fire was out. We dumped the ash and some hot coals when we were done for the night (im sure thats not recommended by the manufacturer. Dont try this at home.) and it was immediately ready to be rolled up and put away. Your mileage may vary. Be careful. I also put the ground cloth heat shield down on the ground, not up where the directions suggest. It worked out perfectly for us. Hopefully this fire pit holds up for a long time. It is now my go-to for campfires.

Works Great
Bought this in Feb. 2019 for our camping trips this spring and summer, as most fire rings have no air flow or are in wrong place. Upon receipt, read instructions on set up and use. Couldn't wait for our camping trip so put it up on our patio, set up easy, some dry twigs and rolled paper towels more than enough to start split fire wood. Great fire little smoke and burned down to ash, next day dumped ash shook screen and put back in carry bag. Early March used, in FL state park camping trip same results, heat shield worked grass not even scorched, empty ashes each day, on the 4th day noticed a tear in the wire mesh screen. Called C/S and they suggested a flaw in the screen and immediately sent out a replacement that was at home when we returned. Have used the Fire Pit now for many fires at home on the patio and in the woods on our trips, the latest in Northern MN working great, fire is at eye level and all wood burns down to ash. It packs up in its carry case for easy storage and set up for next time. All in all very happy with this Pop Up Fire Pit we no longer use the fire pits furnished at the campsites starts with some paper towel, newspaper or other paper and pick up dry twigs for kindling and firewood, see picture's.

Replacement Shield Sent, Great Customer Service,
Updated Review August 2020 & 3 updated pics : Mike from the help team was kind enough to reach out to me after my original review, which was much appreciated. He said that they were happy to send out a new heat shield and cancelled my order that was in, so it was free of charge. Moreover, he said older instructions had lead this happening to others as well and as they stand by their product they were happy to replace for me or anyone else experiencing this issue. I have to say though, the new instructions are nearly identical looking to the old ones (I forgot to snap a pic). It recommends leaving 3 inches between the shield and the pit...this is exactly what I did before. This time I left about 5 inches and so far so good. I’ve only used it twice more with the new one, so time will tell how this goes. I honestly feel like the product is solid and the customer service was gold, i just wish the issue of where to place the heat shield exactly to prevent degeneration wasn’t so pesky. If there was a marking or a notch that came on the legs where to do this or a hook for straps this would be a non-issue and then no guess work or need for measuring tape. They provide these little stickers that you can slap on for guides, but the customer would have to be the one doing it and get out their measuring tape to decide where to place- it’s an easy product improvement that could be made for future pits. Right now I’m pretty dang happy though 🙂. We had some s’mores, chili and a hot dog cook out using the tray attachments. If this holds up well through the year I’ll be kicking the score up to 5 for sure. I just want to see how enduring this neat lil lightweight pit is. I would recommend to renters, especially if you don’t have the space or permission to do an in ground pit; if you are sick of metal pits that rust out quick even though they look cool at first, or if you are avid campers. Thank you again to Mike and the company for quick, attentive and kind service. First Review from July 2020 (1star): I’d love to give this 5 stars, but as the heat shield fell apart after only 3 uses, I’m pretty upset. I didn’t get around to using it last year, unfortunately, so this review is late. The whole reason I got this fire pit was for the heat shield, so with that not working I can’t give it more than 1 star (see photo). It’s easy to put together, lightweight. The mesh screen that holds the wood although discolored seems to be holding up (see pic). I can’t speak to sturdiness of grill grates that I purchased in addition to go with because I haven’t had the chance to use yet, but the frame seems pretty solid. The first time I used it I thought the heat shield was awesome, I put my hand below it safely and it didn’t brown my grass! That said, this will be completely worthless if I have to pay out for a heat shield every 3 uses - it burned apart on both sides....and yes I read the safety warning and followed instructions to the letter on set up, it’s very self explanatory (I also attached that image) I’m an apartment renter and our backyard grass is communal and needs to be kept nice and green and we can’t set up a permanent pit. If I get through to the manufacturer and a new free heat shield comes my way that holds up, I’ll be happy to re-review. I want to love this product and was so excited up until I just went to break it down....and right before the 4th of July holiday 😕.

Best product I've purchased so far
Super easy to assemble. Good quality materials and manufacturing. Functional design, with promise of well burned ashes. The screen mesh gives good air flow allowing wood to burn hotter and more consistently. Heat shield prevented fire from scorching concrete under the pit. The frame is not only light weight for easy transport, it's also rust proof. Also to mention, it cools off quick after use. Thank goodness I have a garden that discarding ashes is simple. Best product I've purchased and it came timely now because of stay at home orders, we can enjoy sitting around a fire, sipping hot cocoa, making smores or perhaps, a night cap all in the comfort of my home. Although, I just realized, I think my kit was supposed to include a carry case, and mine didn't. Update: 11/18/2020 Yes, my kit came with a carry case. Plenty of room for pit parts including heat shield. Also, we installed the heat shield too close to the screen without reading the assembly instructions. The heat shield deflected the fire heat but it's backing began to melt. Word from the wise, lower the shield.

Surprisingly Amazing!
I had been looking for a portable firepit for quite some time for our camping trip out in the desert. Last time we had gone a few years ago, we didn’t have one and had to dig a pit in the middle of a dried lakebed in the peak of summer, which makes for difficult shoveling. I chose this one because of the form factor when packed up (compared to the bulky alternatives), but I had my doubts. We used it for the first time a couple weekends ago and I’ve got to say, this thing came in clutch! Super sturdy and sets up in a few minutes. Easy to clean and pack up. Only issue I have is I haven’t quite figured out how to install the mesh on all 4 posts without needing an extra hand, as the tolerances are quite tight. You need to have 2 corners sitting close to the top of the posts in order to be able to slide the other 2 corners through, which can be tricky. Other than that, really happy with this purchase!

Highly recommend!!
Very easy to assemble. However I do have one warning about this fire pit. Do not use magic fire packets as the plastic will melt and crack your mesh. So that was something that we did wrong but the fire pit itself was amazing. I've already ordered a replacement mesh. The heat output and the overall size of the fire that you can make with this thing is just fantastic. The carrying case makes it super easy to move around and pack back up. I also got the heat shield addition and it worked exactly as it's supposed to the ground underneath the fire was completely unharmed. There was quite a bit of grass around the fire pit but we didn't have a single problem with embers coming out or underneath the fire scorching the ground . Highly recommend!!

Campfire time!
I can't rave enough about this fire pit - and this company! The screen on my fire pit had a manufacturer defect. I called Fireside Outdoor and they were amazingly helpful. They immediately sent me a replacement part via 2 day express mail and it fit perfectly. We have a small yard and didn't want to create a permanent space for a fire pit - this pit fit the bill! We also purchased the ember mat to protect the surrounding area from popping embers. Set up took about one minute and our fire lit immediately. The heat shield was amazing. I was able to place my hand under the fire pit with an active fire and felt no excessive heat at all. Clean up was so easy and we were able to quickly store it away for next time. When they say leave no trace, they mean it. Our yard was picture perfect afterwards. I can't say enough about this product. Looking forward to many backyard campfires - and can't wait to take it on vacation to the beach in the future.

Thought it was great at the beginning, but actually over time it fails to tick any boxes.
Used it for camper camping and a few fires in the garden. What I first loved: sturdy, heat shield works absolutely amazing, light(ish) weight, easy to pack and really burns down to nothing. What I started to dislike after some time: Noticed burning is so clean that fire wood doesn't last long and it doesn't hold any heat/radiate heat as other fire pits do. So you end up burning a lot more wood. Putting it together is easy, taking it apart is fidly, and cleaning up is also a little messy. Size wise it is just a little to big as 5 cm smaller it would have fitted most round grills and it could be used for some quick bbq. All that makes me now prefer to use the normal cheap bowl one... Also, the mesh is split and keeps splitting further and further, soon it will be of no use (after usage of about 20 times max). Just overal disappointing, especially for the price it comes at.

Great for the responsible camper.
Fantastic fire pit. Wood burns fully to Ash (no leftover coals) due to the great airflow. Great for the responsible camper.

Compact! Sturdy! Perfect height.
I would give this a five except the elastics that hold up the protective sheet melted off. Easy fix with airplane wire. It is very easy to setup and tear down 👍. It holds lots of wood. It is so compact I lost it on my RV.

Lightweight Strong and easily stowed away
I have tried a few different fire pits in my time camping, whilst some do a very good job, they are either too big to pack in or they are just too heavy, with Australia getting more and more critical of fires, this one does a great job of keeping the heat away from the ground whilst giving out a surprising amount of heat around the fire at a height that heats up your core not just your legs, easily packed away in our caravan and with GVM / GCM being a big issue it's lightweight gets this item ticking all the boxes.
