Bhagavad-Gita trans.by Sw. Gambhirananda

I bought this Kindle version specifically because it breaks down the Sanskrit word meanings with English letters for those who don’t read Devanagari. Its downfall is that it does not write the chants in English letters like Chinmayananda Publications does . Its commentary is excellent of course, being Shankaracharya’s. It is one of my favorite Gitas in my collection for study and classes. I have to look back and forth between this one and Chinmayananda’s just because I cannot read Devanagari.

The physical book is well bound and beautifully printed. I love handling it.

I purchased this version of The Bhagavad Gita mainly for the commentary by Shankaracharya. It also has the Sanskrit with the English transliteration. This monk is not just a translator and gives a brief and concise interpretation of verses, Sanskrit words and connotations comprehensive to the interested layperson.

Translation from Sanskrit to English is Wrong !!On page 5, it states by the publisher that this is the Second Edition !I know Sanskrit, having studied it for eighteen years.In Chapter 2, page 41, the English translation for verses 2 and 3 are wrong. They are mixed up.in Verse 2, the Sanskrit word "Kasmalam" means unmanly. The corresponding English translation completely omits this, and mentions it in verse 3.This is just an example.It is truly appalling to find this kind of an error in the second edition.

Very good translation by Swami Gambhirananda. Makes it easy to understand the verses. Great book to have and use by everyone - experienced and beginner.

The interjection of Sanskrit words in the English text makes it impossible for me to read the book in a way that allows me to read the content coherently.

Excellent translation of Adi Sankara's commentary on the Gita

Contains Shankara's commentary, with the translation by Swami Gambhirananda. I'm bound to say that I prefer this version to the Sastry one because each verse is translated phrase by phrase and I find that particularly useful. The paper and printing quality is also better. My first Gita and I will say it has been an excellent read. I will recommend it.
