Very good Easy to install and a long battery life

Smoke detectors are there to save your life. They also have a lifespan of 10 years before they should be replaced. The last detectors we had were installed in the house in 1993 when it was built! These are easy to put up, two screws in the baseplate and then twist and lock the unit into place. It's really simple and even has instructions in the box. It has a burnt toast feature (you can switch it off for 10 minutes if you burn toast) and it's loud. A red light flashes every 45 seconds to tell you it is active. Test the device and you will find it wakes any hibernating grizzly. The battery life is 10 years, after which it should be replaced. Interestingly smoke detectors have 'use by' dates, always check. This one had a use by date of 10 years + 1 year so it was fresh from the factory. Incidentally, these can be found recommended on the Fire Service website. Good value for a pack of two.

This is really a review for the two smoke alarms I bought 12 years ago - they were FireAngel Model SI-610. They had been working fine since I got them (as far as I know), then 6 weeks ago one of them started emitting its low battery beep. So I bought another two of the nearest current equivalent, the ST-622, hoping they will last as long. I was pleased to find that, in spite of the change in model number, they are backwards compatible with the old backplate, so installation only took a few seconds. Today I had to replace the second one. Including a 10 year life battery is a great idea, as the radioactive source in the alarm only lasts about 10 years anyway before the whole unit needs replacing. So it works out cheaper than replacing the battery every year or two, and with less faff. Apart from cosmetic changes, the only difference I can see between the two models is that the originals were made in China, and the later ones in Poland. Hopefully, these will last as long, and I won't have to trigger the 10 year guarantee.

I agree with the negat8vd conments. I previously bought 2 smoke an 1 heat alarm from screwfix. The smokes are out of battery after 5 years but the heat alarm is still OK. 1 heat alarm was faulty when opened so check them when you heat them with a bleep test ! 2 stars for battery but I don't mind replacing them every 4 to 5 years at the price. If you want longer lasting fire alarms then get the hard wired ones ! Even as a trained electrician, these are less hassle and I think worth the money from a cost perspective. Like these alarms because I think they combine smoke detection with optical so there should be more tolerance to false alarms. I also think they are the best designed and best looking ones.

Great smoke alarms easy to fit and last a long time

I have FireAngel smoke alarms all around my house. Very pleased with them.

These need to be pressed to stop the alarm when not needed so need to keep some long tool to press large button on centre when on ceilings. These were the cheapest l could find as fire brigade no longer supplies them free. Could be five in a pack for the price. Highly recommend. They require adhesive pads bought separately to affix to ceilings. They don't come with anything to attach them. Not used tech support so cannot comment. These are still working in 2024 so still in use good battery life so far so good.

I have had Fire Angel Smoke Alarms in the past, so bought these as replacements. It is very easy to install and there is no need for a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering!! The pack comes with the smoke alarm, base plate, 2No raw plugs and 2No screws. Simply punch out the 2No plastic holes in the base plate where the screws will be installed. Place the base plate on the ceiling and mark-out the screw hole locations. Drill a 5mm hole and place the raw plugs that are provided. Locate the base plate on the ceiling to match the screw hole locations and screw the base plate tight to the ceiling. Match the locator on the smoke alarm with the base plate and twist to lock into position. The built-in 10yr battery only activates once the smoke alarm is locked into position. Push the test button and if the alarm sounds, pat yourself on the back for a job well done!! The alarm is LOUD!! A well recommended product that you can trust.
